Carousel Round (Feedback / Suggestion)

Although I haven't played much TFT due to the fact that I don't have time to play and learn it, I do watch a lot of it. I think this game has a lot of potential and could be the best version of Auto Chess that is out right now if it isn't already, this is coming from a DAC / Underlords player / fan.

Anyway I wanted to talk about the carousel round and what I think it could use and make more engaging for the player. I like how the integration of the courier is used in this game to make the player more immersed and able to use their courier for something else other than just moving around on the player field. I like the idea of the carousel round and what it brings to the table in it that it adds another factor to the game. Not just a factor but a fun factor at that. I was thinking that for the carousel round, maybe you could integrate something like multiple mini-games where the player has to use their courier to get a certain piece / item that they want.

For example I was thinking of something like a kind of whack-a-mole mini-game during the carousel round, where there are many dug holes in the field (as if a beaver or something were to dig a hole) and random pieces would pop out of them and you would have to try and get them. Also I think when they pop out of the holes and go back in, every time a piece comes out of the hole it would be a different piece from the one before. I know this kind of mini-game doesn't guarantee you the piece that you want, but I believe that would be the fun part to it. It would be like Mario Party where the carousel round would be many different mini-games that all of the players come to and try to get a piece that they want that isn't just from the carousel.

I think this would make the game a bit more fun and I think it would be a good addition to the game. Players would be excited for the carousel round and wonder what mini-game / type of carousel round it is. This would make using the courier even more engaging for the players and definitely would be more fun to use for when the carousel round does come around.

Some examples of mini-games that I thought of are:

  • Whack-A-Mole (Pieces pop out from various holes on the field and are randomized each time they pop out and you would have to catch them)

  • Face Down Cards (Chess Pieces are shown on cards at the beginning and then scrambled in a pattern where they would have to watch and memorize where their chess piece that they wanted ended up and then the cards are laid face down on the field where they would have to find and/or guess where their chess piece that they wanted ended up. This would be something like the ball under the cup where you would see the ball go under the cup and the cups get moved around and you would have to guess which cup the ball is under.)

These are the only ones I thought of right now. Sorry for the huge description on the face down cards one but it is fairly simple. If you guys think this would be a good idea / addition to the game let me know and even suggest some other mini-games that could be implemented for the carousel round.

Nice intention, but very bad ideas.

The idea behind the carusel is not to have a minigame inside the game, but as a part of the game were you try to get that item or that champ you need to fill in your game plan, with a strategic part were you can have more chances to get what you want the less hp you have. Aside from that, the carusel is a critiziced part of the game were a lot of persons think is a waste of time that could be used in other ways with the same results. With that in mind, adding more minigames that increase the RNG factor, thing that is already pretty high, will only ensure a lot of negative experiences to the players, because your objective is not to "have fun" with minigames inside the game mode, your ojective is to try to win, or at least, get top 4.

Just read another post about the carousel, similar theme.

Carousel is literally the best part of TFT, and for 3 reasons.

  1. You can control your involvement with it: Lose the first 10 rounds intentionally so that you always get first pick of champs/items. Meanwhile bank up all your gold to make a boomerang comeback after wolves so that you're still all the way on bottom but still get first pick while still wrecking fools.
  2. You can exact revenge on that noob who just beat you with his lvl 1 Kayle @ 3 hp last round by stealing Kayle from the carousel and get 5 free gold from selling it.
  3. You can move your legend and physically block people and screw with their champ picking, further exacting revenge.

Carousel, though spawned by the very essence of randomness and RNG, is the most controllable, and in this summoner's opinion best, part of this gamemode.

It's something about the psychological aspect of seeing exactly what's up for grabs that makes it enjoyable for this guy.
