First 3 round drops?

Mórrígan··1 votes·662 views

hey guys, can someone explain why some people get more drops from the 3 first minion encounters and get ahead a lot and I usually get 1 or none drops? I don't see it as fair, i'd rather it would be fixed number of random drops, so our tactics would be more important... [sg-soraka]

The number of items dropped in the first 3 PVE rounds can determine who wins a substantial amount of the following rounds. I don't know the best way to approach this issue, but I certainly think that there should be a min/max of some sort implemented. I've gone all three rounds without a single item dropped. I've also had games where almost every minion dropped an item. This can create a huge disparity in power with something that has no relation to skill.

if that player starts winning rounds then that player will never get to pick first in the drafts. and just because you get items doesn't mean you get duplicate champs in order to level to rank 3.

The RNG for the champion selection showing up in your shop certainly has an affect on your potential to win in the end as well, but there is nothing stopping you from simply keeping your strongest stuff off your field and "gimping" yourself for the first few rounds for a weak start to enable more favorable early carousel picks.

Actually - there is.

In order to get those items from the PVE rounds you have to win or at the very least kill 1 enemy per item. If you win then you lose your loss streak. everyone at the beginning will be on a win streak with 1 item minimum if they are trying to earn items from the pve rounds.

at the first pvp round you will have a couple of things :

the gold value difference of the champion you selected from the starting draft the gold you earned from winning/losing the rounds the item that you earned from the draft round

these are guaranteed.

nothing else is guaranteed.

a player could choose to lose all pve rounds for the opportunity to have an early loss streak.

a player could try to buy 9 of the same champion for an early level 3 champ

a player could try to form an early game build and beat everyone with synergy.

a player could just be buying his/her favorite champs.

a player could be trying to overload the board with champions in order to confuse the AI of the game.

a player could be positioning his/her units awkwardly to force mistakes like baited assassins.

if you're on a loss streak you're going to get first pick and you're going to have a full gold generator set by second draft. Should you choose the first item that you want (BF sword pyke) and then you just need a tear of the goddess... well now you have all the gold you need and you get to go first at the carousel.

the amount of hp you lose is relative to the amount of your opponent's units left on the field. so if you can figure out a way to balance loss versus gain then it doesn't matter. You'll have the economy and priority to come back late game when everyone else has spent all their money on tier 1 champ comps like knights wilds and voids.

anyone can sandbag themselves. doesn't mean you'll win or lose. If you're spending gold then you're going to out perform the player that isn't, but if that player is reckless then they're going to be killed off pretty fast - hp doesn't regenerate.

if you're sitting on 9 items and you're sandbagging to overwhelm late game then you're going to have to lose matches. And that's relying on luck to give you the champs you need for late game. you gain 2 xp regardless if you win or lose. once you hit rank 6 you have a harder time getting tier 1's because they get replaced partially by tier 4s. So it's great that you have 100 gold and 9 items, but if you dont have an champs to wield those items then it's wasted investment. level 3 khazix deals 800 isolation damage. most tier 1 champs only have ~600 hp. most 2 stars have ~800.

so as you can see items dont guarantee victory.

Because you get to choose first during drafts AND because you get to earn losing streak gold, not getting items in the beginning doesn't mean you auto-lose

there are some pretty strong come back mechanics in the game.

also if you get a decent roll on your items, but your champion pool sucks then it doesn't matter how good your items are to an extent.
