So Its down to the top 3. I enter a match with a player with 3 HP to start the match. I destroy their team. I fully expect them to blow up and now Im getting at least second place. Next match I get hard fucked by a phantom team that wipes out my 3 star Kennen that wouldve fried their team otherwise as I never got an ult off (8 on my team and of course it picks Kennen) I digress...Anyway, I lose the match. Placement screen shows up and I end up third.

This has happened before. It seems to happen when its down to 3 and Im assuming that what, one of the matches doesnt count for some dumb reason because of an odd amount of players left.

Riot, explain yourself.

When it's an odd amount of players remaining, 1 person will face a ghost player.

You will still lose health against a ghost player, you just don't do dmg to it.

I just posted about this. It's infuriating!I've played ghost players consecutively.

What probably happened was just like the other comments here: you were fighting a player who wasn't actually a player, or a "ghost player". If you were fighting a ghost, then you wouldn't have dealt any damage to the opponent regardless of if you won or lost. So, even when you won that round, it seems likely that the ACTUAL player with 3 HP had survived the fight with the third player, and afterwards when you were defeated by the player who you presumed was in 1st place, there were still 2 people left on the playing field.

I agree, it can be a bit unfair sometimes, but just remember that whatever happens to you probably affects everyone else as well.
