Assassin Comp Rush Experiment
Assassins are busted. In an effort to prove just that I conducted an 8 game experiment. I rushed an assassin comp every game for 15 games.
While the results vary one thing was clear, when ranked comes out this is about the most mindless way one will be able to climb, by needing a top 4 finish to gain LP, with assassins in their current state. Based on the 9.14 patch updates it wont be changing in the immediate future.
I did not keep track of the item drops, how many 1-3 star champs, though I do believe all games had at least all 2-star assassins, what particular champs I ended up with or what combination of the 7 assassins I got. Why? Because there is going to be no consistency with this from one game to the next. The only constant is the assassin comp.
The results: Game 1 - 1st - 6 Assassins Game 2 - 4th - 6 Game 3 - 4th -6 Game 4 - 2nd - 7 Game 5 - 3rd - 6 Game 6 - 5th - 4 Game 7 - 2nd - 6 Game 8 - 1st - 7 Game 9 - 2nd - 6 Game 10 - 1st -6 Game 11- 1st -6 Game 12 -2nd -6 Game 13- 2nd -6 Game 14- 2nd -6 Game 15- 2nd - 6
As you can see if you get 6 assassins, which also clearly isn't that hard to do you will most likely place. In my 8 game experiment, it happened 100% of the time. Yes, there is a strategy I implement that usually allows me to get 6 assassins, in this case 7 of 8 times. But what I have found allows for so many placements is the low tier threshold to get to the first 3 assassins and that 150% crit bonus, the fact that you can do very well with no 3 stars, and usually almost always end up top 2 if you manage 2 or more 3 stars which I'm pretty sure was the case in my experiment. You also dont need to try and get alot of champs 6-7 seemed more than adequate because of that stupid 350% crit bonus, because of the crit bonus you can get away with not having many items, you can usually even up the match very quickly when out numbered if you can manage 1-2 zephyrs which seems downright broken when you are deleting one or two enemy champs before the tornados drop the cced ones. It allows you to go deeper into games and find 6 of the 7 assassins. You also aren't running into nearly the same issues you would with other comps when managing your bench looking for so many different champs to make a more diverse comp. The management of the game economy is also almost a non-factor with just a couple of minor considerations, particularly with levels 4 and 5.
Bottom Line is that no other comp or strat I have tried to implement so far has been this consistent in getting the desired comp and getting top 4 finishes.
