Getting coins as your only loot for a round is frustrating and absolutely baffling

Which items you create to synergize with your set bonuses, and which champion you equip them to is a key part of strategy, so why would loot be set up so that sometimes you just... dont get items? I dont understand game theory well enough to calculate exactly how much the coins are worth in terms of a resource that can help you win, but even so it doesnt make sense. From a gameplay perspective, why take away a strategic choice from the player when that is a core part of player engagement? Just baffling to me.

I actually love it how it is now. They finally put items in their place. Items aren't overbearing and insane like they used to be. Granted getting them is still nice but i like getting money/champs, especially early game. I like to buy out the shop if i get money the first few rounds to see what i'm working with. Getting low tier is hard when you're higher levels so it's really nice to have a bunch of them before they start never appearing on your shop.

I think getting gold is good because it allows you to build up to 50 faster making it so you can level faster and get better champions faster.

Tbh if I'm not able to 2 star anything from minion rounds in the beginning I kinda appreciate the gold because that way I can build up a gold lead even though I had a weak item/unit start.
