What is with these try-hards...

What is with these try-hards making forms and pdfs and website for "applications" for teams?

Why is this a thing?

Are you gonna pay me? Am I applying for a job?

You realize this is a video game, right? Just add people, try them out, and if they're good - cool. If not - unfriend them.

Its as easy as that. I don't know when all this overly pretentious application-filling-out, web-based application bullshit started, but I laugh so hard at it every time I see it. Its basically a big red flag to me saying "I'm not joining this team or playing with these people, because they have no life and they take this shit WAYYYY too seriously."

Its a game. Grab some friends. Grab a couple randos, and make a team. Its not rocket science. No "Application" required.

Hey there!

I want to address the main point of your question. League of Legends is for many types of players. Some play for fun, some play with teammates / solo, and some just want to get people together to play seriously and to try and improve themselves over the competitive season. Due to the Season start happening in just a couple of days, a lot of organizations have been posting here in Player Recruitment in a rush to try and fill out rosters & teams. As long as they aren't breaking the rules or encouraging negative behavior, it's perfectly fine to advertise their community / team / org.

While I understand that you don't personally like this way of recruiting on the Boards, for others it's just standard procedure.

Why are you even on these forums? If you're just looking to play a game with people, you can do that by just playing the game. You don't have to be here or even listen to what people are doing here.

Certain teams are serious and want to rank up higher, to do that they need to weed out the good and the bad... That requires applications to find out if the people they may or may not pick and choose -- fit their system. It also helps factor in if they want to play with the person at all because certain questions test your game knowledge.

I recommend you don't use these forums, because what you're complaining about like a little school girl is what you're going to ALWAYS see on here. Period. Now go away.

Why are you recommending this guy not use boards, what he uses it for is what most of the boards users use it for. You just get a few pretentious c`nts who spam the boards with applications becuase they dont want to play with people to find a solid group.

Lol. What? How did you come to that conclusion? He's using the boards to complain about how the boards are run, so he shouldn't be here, correct? I'm not quite sure what's too hard to understand about that..... Shrug

"How the boards are run?"

Is there someone enforcing this application bullshit? Is there a rule somewhere that says you have to use applications to recruit people? How am I complaining about how the boards are being run?

I'm not sure what's hard to understand about the fact that you're pulling baseless accusations out of your ass.

My point was, and is, that people making these lengthy applications to join their team are full of themselves and I personally think its a joke. I laugh every time.

These kids think they're gonna be in the LCS or something, when really their team is gonna last a month or two, maybe 3, and they'll never talk to each other again.

He is complaining about a few douchbags, not how the boards are run. Big difference.

Some players play in tournaments with organized teams for monetary rewards, can be as high as a few thousand dollars. When they are recruiting, there is a high chance that there are dozens of players that want to play on that team in order to get a piece of that prize. Players will use web based applications to filter out the people that they don't seem interested in, such as rank or main champions.

Let's say there are 30 people that want to play for that team, ranging from silver to platinum. Having an application that can sort players by Level, Rank, and Main Champions is much more efficient then playing with 30 different players to see if you like them. That's 30 games, and if each game lasts 30 minutes, that's 15 hours of play time just to find one person. Now I'm sure you won't base your opinion off of 1 game, so it's likely you play 3 or 4 games to see if you like that player and his play style.

Sure some players play this game for fun, but many others play it competitively, to try to become the best player that they can be. Joining a competitive team is a really easy and efficient way to become a better player.
