Looking to try my hand at coaching?

Barkley··1 votes·809 views

Might be fun? Idk. I might be great at it. I might suck at it. Not gonna know til I try.

looking to coach bronze thru plat. Pretty sure diamond players wouldn't listen to me and probably know more than I do anyway.

So if you're looking for a rookie coach, and don't mind a mutual learning experience, hit me up. Might work out. Might not. Might be a complete disaster. I may be the worst coach ever.

But I gotta try it out and see.

You def shouldnt be coaching and will probably hurt players more than help them. Its not something you just decide to do one day. Start by learning the game yourself.

i've been playing this game since season 1. My strategy and macro are on point. My gameplay mechanics are average at best. The only reason I'm gold is because i know how to play the game and play the map. If I didn't, I'd be bronze, because my mechanics are shit. If I had good mechanics, I'd easily be plat, probably higher.

But i'm 30 years old, and my reaction time isn't what it used to be, and I am a full time student with 2 kids and a wife. I don't have time to sit down and spam a champion for a week straight and learn all his moves and all his little intricacies and in-situ decision making.

But the overall game? The overarching objectives? Where to be, when? What to do, when? How to snowball an advantage? How to punish a mistake? Where to place wards, when? What items to buy, when?

Got all that. Got that down pat. That's my strong point.

And that's the kind of thing people look for in coaching. So while I appreciate your opinion, I also respectfully dismiss it.

You wouldnt be gold 5 with a shit ton of games if you were even close to good. You will harm players more than help them. You are the same as them. The blind leading the blind. God help anyones soul that believes this garbage.

This is a completely honest and educated response. If you are below diamond 2, you should not be coaching anyone. There are a few exceptions here and there, but after watching what low diamonds do, i can say even they don't understand the core mechanics of the game. The fact that you are gold 5... laughs 700 games LOL!!! And are trying to coach others, you will make players worse. With how matchmaking in gold is rigged to carry you to plat over 1k games, how bad do you have to be to not be in plat already? I'm a very blunt person, and completely honest... So try not to take this as an insult, its just how it is currently.

Am I missing something here? Am I hurting you in some way? Am I hurting this other guy in some way? Why does this bother you? I'm gonna try it anyway. I think it will be fun. I'm trying to understand what you and this other guy have to gain by coming in here and being like "you're gonna make players worse" "omg look at his rank" "omg 700 games" "you've gotta be joking" "Don't do it man" what does it even matter to you? How does this affect you in literally ANY way?

Or did you just see an opportunity to piss in someone's cheerios, and you couldn't help yourself?

The part of your post that bothers people is that you actually believe that you have good game sense. This must be untrue because the game is 95% knowing where to be and what to do and 5% idk pressing the flash button correctly and not dying to JG camps.

It's like people never heard of the saying "those who cant do, Teach" or in this case "those who cant play, Coach." Coaching and playing are 2 completely different things.. anyone can watch a game unfold from the outside looking in and see where the game was won and lost.. How many times have u been in a game and wrecked house only to lose cause your team fed?? some games are unwinnable when stuff like this happens.. therefore ones LP and rank take a beating.. There is nothing wrong with a person wanting to take a swing at coaching or mentoring players.. the OP was upfront on his/hers qualifications, Strengths and weaknesses.. no need to step on them saying they will make players worse... Cause lets be honest... have u seen the players in the lower elo ranks? Myself included.. i have strengths but those strengths are dwarfed by my weaknesses... so remember constructive criticism pls thats what make a community great.. not turning it into a pissing match on why someone should do what they want to do..

So you think a G5 has more insight into how to win a game than a P1 player? Because "bad mechanics?"

U think a Gold 5 can make a bronze 5 player worse?? Have you never heard of people learning a subject better by teaching others?? so the fact that u think he/she wants to go straight to the top with the team he/she is coaching is where u missed it.. he/she wants to try it out... and learn for him/herself if its if its for them.. Where do you people get off shooting down a person before the even tried?? there is nothing wrong with putting it out there and seeing what happens...

I have a problem with the person saying that they can coach any person up to the rank of plat but can't coach diamond because they were are of equal game knowledge. If a G5 was just offering to coach bronzies this post would not be as active because the majority of people would be like, w/e what a nice guy. Instead he wanted to buff himself up by saying that mechanics are the reason he is hardstuck g5.

he is asking is anyone willing to let him take a swing at coaching.. has nothing to do with taking people to a specific lvl in ranked.. jesus.. its like you come on here just to rip into people.. how about if you dont like what he is offering to JUST STFU and get on with your life... you think you have to be a good player to be a good coach?? there are reasons why some of the BEST athletes dont go on to become coaches.. cause coaching is an entirely different aspect of the game...

So pls get off your high horse STFU and let the OP try his hand at coaching/mentoring players who want or need the help...

I think the title of this post is throwing people off. He wants to try to help people with what he knows, and people to help him on his end. Perhaps more like a request for a "Deep League Conversation." Relax people, everything on the forums is made overly dramatic. After years of play there's a lot someone understands. Perhaps he finds the spark he's missing. My girlfriend's father also plays the game, and he's been playing since season 2. He may be in Silver, but does this necessarily mean he's a Silver elo player? He knows how to rotate, but his mechanics are rough as well. Perhaps you need to understand the question, before coming up with such a rude answer.

Being in silver is the definition of being a silver elo player. Wait nvm, your right, I may be gold, but I am not a "Gold ELO" player. Chalenjor bby.

LoL...... You dont have to be good at the game in order to be a good coach. Look at the LCS. Lets take any other "real" sports. Coaches from H.S-college. shit even professional coaches that have never played a game in their lives have found success. This is a great example of how this community is toxic AF. Rank should not mean anything at all in a coaching perspective.

I'm really sorry about rude people saying you shouldn't coach--you should definitely go for it, if that's what your heart is saying! Putting yourself in the spotlight on a forum like this invites people to be hateful, but know that there are people out here who support you. Go get 'em, tiger! [sg-kiko]
