I don't think he's been lying in the past.
He said we were getting map-specific balance and we got that. He said we were getting the revive trinket and we got that. He said the rubber-banding issue would be fiddled with, and we got that, too.
I really, really want to believe something cool is coming down the pipe. But when it comes to big things we typically haven't gotten burned. I would just love some more concrete information so I'm not getting my hopes up for a few item fixes that should have been made months ago.
Well, at least ARAM got the totally not Poro-toss Summoner Spell.
I mean, sure, finally adding Negatron to Veil and Moonflare is nice. It was silly that they didn't get updated along with Abyssal Scepter. But something more substantive would be great. Just... talking with us would be great. Any sort of feedback would be wonderful.
And even if he does, why should we believe him? He has done nothing but lie in the past.

Making Rift a featured mode, I mean.

Don't get your hopes up The post he was replying to when he said that was about both Dominion and ARAM (and slightly more about ARAM than Dom). It's probably either going to be for ARAM, or is the stuff that was already released for ARAM.
