We thought it was an April Fool's joke. We thought it was just a fun mode. We were wrong. Watch the preview video again. It's obvious in hindsight that they were simply previewing, playtesting, and gauging player reaction. Positivity was overwhelming.

URF explains the additions to the jungle and the buffs monsters have received. URF is why towers have been given beam attacks and the strategies for dealing with the three tiers have been updated. URF explains the early-game stat buffs and fountain heals. Look at the preseason changes; almost everything in there will make URF more balanced, giving losing teams or late-game champs a chance against snowballers. URF is why Kass, Ryze, Sona, Hecarim, Soraka, Nidalee, Alistar, and Skarner have not received even minor VUs in anticipation of the new Rift. It's so obvious we should have seen it coming six months ago.

URF will become the default mode in Season 5.
