Something similar to Steam Workshop for user generated content.

I was wondering if Riot Games would create a program to enable user created content.

It would be interesting to see a survival mode or a tower defense mode or a "Diablo mode" (something similar to Blizzard Entertainment's "Diablo" where you can go on "INFLUENCE POINT RUNS") or something that is beyond our imagination.

As much as I love playing in the summoners rift, it eventually just gets repetitive and becomes boring after a while.

Dota 2 has the steam workshop and Riot games could get some ideas to keep their users interested in playing.

There has to be more content than the maps Riot Games has given us.

We cannot just beg Riot to do everything for us. Perhaps some talented modders could unleash their creative potential and make new ground breaking mode and game genre! Dota was made in Warcraft III and lead to Dota 2 and League of Legends. Something great could happen from modding programs and perhaps a new masterpiece will soon BE BORN!

As far a si know this can' t be done at the moment because the code itself is an unbearable mess, and theu need to lift that out. After that i guess that would be cool, but i don' t think that would be ever done for alternative mods-modes. This is no skyrim and works in a very different way, so we will ever stick to the old modes instead they don' t add a custom mode, but then again that would change only variables and not add other coding. If instead we are only talking about client-side stuff like the Dota2 workshop then i am for it.

Other posts have brought this idea to the community's attention for, and the largest hindrances in allowing for UGC are:

  1. Copyright Protection and
  2. Engine Modification

In regards to #1., all community content would have to be moderated in some way to ensure that Riot can adhere to its own standards. Most companies just absolve all responsibility from users in their ToS when it comes to user-generated content, but that doesn't preclude UGC from not being a problem. This is a huge problem to overcome when ensuring a safe and stable community content environment.

As far as #2. goes, here you'll find the much more glaring issue. League of Legends supports tens of millions of players per month. Given that Riot's game is its platform, fragmenting part of that platform -- all the while building off of it, modifying it, maintaining it, and the like -- would require as much effort as creating an entirely separate game. Unfortunately, this isn't a "one click and you're done" scenario. The code would have to be vastly modified to support a large influx of various player-created mods.

I love the idea as well, I just want to provide some insight into the likely reality of its chances. Hopefully a Rioter can hop on here and tell me how completely wrong I am!
