So what don't you like about Dominion?

Hey M&M peeps! This is primarily for players who don't play Dominion and I'm looking to find out why. A few people seem to really enjoy it, but others don't find it fun at all! Why is that?

Is it the balance issues? The lack of Ranked play? The difficulty in figuring out what you should be doing? The same-y-ness of the map's objectives? The lack of a laning phase? Something else?

Feel free to share with us why you don't like the mode and maybe we'll be able to compile some information for Riot to make some low-difficulty improvements.

Ranked would make me interested in learning it. ~Uiru

Unfortunately, Ranked probably won't happen unless Dominion somehow magically gains a 200k player base like it used to have before it was neglected to death.

People are like always up. The death timers are so low and they have that revive thingy. This prevents you from getting more objectives. It would be more interesting if the game was more back and forth.

Just for a bit of background, before using Revive as a summoner spell became standard practice, Dominion games at high level typically always ended in sub-ten minute wins due to one team locking the other team into their base and 5-Capping. This could probably be changed by modifying the effect of having more than 3 points such as giving a small movespeed buff for 4/5 points controlled instead of making the enemy team drain down to zero Nexus HP in mere minutes.

I'm curious though, what do you have in mind when you say more back and forth? Like stronger rubber-banding ooooor?

Also, if both teams' points are like the same, lets say both at 5 (right before the match ends), rarely will you have enough gold to finish your 5th item. This even goes if your fed.

Early in Dominion's life span getting full builds was pretty common due to higher ambient gold gain. This caused a problem, though. Really strong duelists and assassins who scaled well with gold became completely unstoppable monsters. This issue could (potentially) be solved by making Dominion League's permanent Hexakill map. Having an extra champion on each team would mean one more guy to help shut down folks like Jax and LeBlanc.

Something like this. There just isn't enough variety in what there is to do in the game.

Also I hate bruisers and they're way too strong there.

I've heard quite a few people bring up this issue and I can really empathize with it.

How would you feel about the map gaining some new objectives in addition to the capture nodes? Something like the capture relics from Ascension and a big neutral monster to fight? That would give the map three different types of objectives to control instead of just one. I actually made a mockup of what the map might look like with such an addition.

That would put it closer to Summoner's Rift in terms of objectives to fight over. Over there you have the structures that need to be destroyed (primary objectives), the epic monsters (secondary objectives) and the buff monsters (tertiary objectives). Dominion would have the capture nodes (primary), the capture relics (secondary), and the epic monster (tertiary).

Balance problems are the most off-putting thing in my opinion, but there are plenty of problems to be had elsewhere
