Idea: Time Period before locking champions in Blind Pick, preventing Instant Lock

Riot, I'm sure you know that one of the problems in some normal games is that when people, before calling their roles, instant locked their champions. It gets VERY annoying, because usually those who do so aren't exactly the sportiest player, they'd usually be the one to start flaming when things go south, and blaming other allies for their failure. Not to mention, they look like extremely entitled and robs away a possible good team composition when they forcefully took away the position someone else wanted, instead of a civil discussion.

So, I have an idea... what if in Blind Pick, before the first 10 to 20 seconds passed, you are not allowed to lock your champions? This will give time to call on the roles.

I know there is a team builder but at times, it took forever to get a team that those who wants a quick game would go back to Blind Pick and face the risk of meeting an instant-locker.

What do you think, Riot?

How would that prevent people from just sitting on the champion they want to instalock for 10 seconds and then instalocking?

It would give the rest of the team time to specify what they want to play. Yeah people will still instalock after that however this way they have to knowingly deny someone the role they asked to play. This way those people who have some shred of a soul will not do it. (I agree it will still happen but we cant stop people from doing what they want. Thats why there is team builder)

this is a semi-solid suggestion , not perfect but would help, and would make it VERY clear who to report after for the transgression . BUT moreover a delay in the chat itself would really go a long way to aid this , a lot of times people instalock after calling a position only to have been the last in the chat and didn't see the others calls ... HOW DO NOOBS NOT GET THIS AFTER THE FIRST TIME IS BEYOND ME AND CAPS WORTHY AGGRAVATING. just cause your screen shows you call it first doesn't mean you did ...

5 or 10 seconds chat delay, then the rest 15 or 10 seconds is for the lock delay. Sounds pretty solid.

Insta lockers don't care what you want to play. Also I see you are not 30. I haven't seen an instant locker since I hit 30. It's not really a problem at max level. Just wait it out man. Sorry.

If only that is true, or maybe I am being paranoid myself. Thing is, in another server (SEA), I've still seen this problem a lot even if I am already Level 30, so I came to think that this is something of a stigma of every MOBA genre games.

And sometimes in matchmaking, you can still get stuck with a non-Level 30 with this kind of mindset. We never know their level until the end of the game. And if the non-level 30's are mostly like that, how do you think other newcomers would deal with this? They may even quit before they reach level 30 even if they could have been perfectly fine people. Of course in Ranked Games or Draft Mode games this is probably not a problem, but this will be in Blind Pick Mode a lot, and I think most players if they don't want to bother with ranked go there instead.

I have to admit I'm guilty of instalocking too, but only if I don't see anyone else lock in a champ for the spot I wanted. I think they should remove blind pick overall and replace it with team builder, that way queue times would be a lot shorter and would solve the issues instalocking.
