Here's the problem with Ascension...it's WAY too god damn long!

Seriously, each kill feels so meaningless, each relic captured feels meaningless. And once the enemy killed Xerath once, there is literally no purpose in playing on, and then the game just drags on even longer. Once Xerath is taken once from you, the entire team loses their drive to play and just want the game to end as fast as it could.

Xerath is far too weak, taking out a lot of intended epicness with his concept.

Finally, the complete removal of minions really put a lot of champions at a much bigger disadvantage in this map, removing a lot of play for champions those who can jump to allied minions or toss them around.

The game should end at like 100 points, or there should be more ways to gain points.

Honestly in my experiences after thirty-minutes and you have no Ascension does it become clear cut; because you'll be losing in two minutes after. I love the thrill of killing the ascended, the epic team-fights, the great Xerath steals, and overall focus of taking objectives as a team. If you can't coordinate yourself along with your team, then this game-mode will feel hopeless. I believe this game-mode promotes heavy-team work and syngery among champs. Which btw, makes creating a team even better imo.

Okay, I understand your complaints, but with every other event game mode put in place, certain champs are going to have advantages and disadvantages.

I'm going to guess that you don't like how you can't utilize champions such as Syndra and Braum - based off the strong references to them - as well in this game mode compared to the other normal games or previous game modes. Though, there is still flexibility with these two champions. For example, since you start out at level 3, you can reach your passive much faster than in a normal game with syndra - however since it's a very assassin heavy game mode you will of course suffer from her natural lacking of defenses. As for Braum, as long as you don't have a team comp of mages or AD casters, your passive and kit really helps go against said assassins and protect relics while being captured.

Also, Xerath being weak is almost what makes this mode so fun for most people from what I've heard - and my own personal experiences of course. It makes it so that it's almost a race to see who can get him without it being stolen and it's a high priority objective that everyone wants to have. It's easy power that makes for a fun hunting dynamic since the ascended champion cannot be hidden on the map. And people that are demoralized simply by losing one Xerath kill are playing this mode for all the wrong reasons (( IN MY OPINION OF COURSE!! )) because the game shouldn't focus on getting the prize, but having fun with a new and interesting mechanic that has some special prizes if you meet certain standards.

Of course, there is always the fact that you may not like this game mode. This one just may not be for you and that's okay! Just hope that the next time around you'll enjoy it more than this one. :3

Can't speak for problems with Ascension (it's only 20 minutes long for most of my games) But yeah the requirement to get the perfect ascension Icon is pretty brutal: Requires a good team, possibly bad enemy team, specific champions, and if you are trying to get said icon, it's toxic in that many give up if the others ascend once.

Xerath minion is far from weak, he hurts a lot if you don't dodge (and dodging means less damage to him)

Almost every game mode introduced has a meta (for 1v1 it was almost always pick Riven, URF it was champions with short CDs like Helicopter Hecarim, Starstorm Soraka, or Permastun Brand.)

Although some people do legitimately love this mode, and the above points are moot for them. I hope to try again sometime soon with feeling considering I no longer have the burden to get that icon (Sona and Vayne are great choices for defending Ascended and securing Xerath respectively.)
