Featured Game Mode: Mania Match Up(Just another Hunger Games Mode idea)
Welcome to the first annual event that is Mania Match Up! I'm your host, Draaaaaaaaven here with Kamiroo Wolf; the developer and creator for this unique game mode! I turn the game over to the man himself to explain the fundamentals of this brutal and marvelous game!
Thank you Draven and I look forward to seeing you participate in the Mania Matchup Games! Here we go with the explanation. First we'll start off with the basics, then get into more detail about the map and gameplay, finishing off with some extra fun facts and information! This is your average Hunger Games themed game mode and I ensure it will be a blast! Without further ado:
Tl;dr= Its basically a 14 player 2v2 game where players farm jungle for exp., kill everyone else, and more.
Basics) Players form teams of two in champion select, deciding which combination of champions they will play during Mania Match Up. After a boring time staring at that loading screen, players will be spawned on small platforms that form a circle around a shop at the center of the map with their teammates and receive trinkets known as the PTS(Portable Trading System). After 45 seconds to a minute, players will be released from platforms and the game will begin!
Now you're probably wondering how I plan to make a game of League similar to that of the Hunger Games, where participants must grab whatever they can from the cornucopia and fight to the death; all while surviving the harsh elements of the map they are placed on. Simple, really. When players spawn in with their teammates, small chests spawn in as well around the shop that is closed until later in the game. After players are released, these chest are available to be opened through a short channeling period. Within these chests are BASIC ITEMS ONLY ranging from the Amplifying Tome to the Spellthief' s Edge. The number of basic items in the chest, however, is random and players may find 1-3 items per chest. The chances of finding 3 in one chest, however, are rare. After players are released from their platforms they are free to do whatever they want which includes killing other players, farming levels and experience within the vast map, hide from predators in an attempt to outlast them, etc. The full map is covered by the fog of war after a certain point in time. Within the jungle of the vast map, numerous monsters and creatures can be farmed for exp, buffs, and even small bonuses like a ward round that area. Your objective is to kill everyone else or at least have one teammate be the last man standing.
If you die, you are out for the rest of the entire game and enter spectator mode. Within spectator mode, however, dead players can vote on how the map changes over time(sort of like the GameMakers in the Hunger Games). To prevent a never ending game, after a long time the edges of the map will begin to disappear forcing players closer to eachother.
The Map)
The map players play on is random but essentially the same. All maps are full of monsters, have the same vast circular shape, and all have a shop. The scenery and ways dead players can alter gameplay, however, is different. For instance, in a desert themed map, sand will replace grass and terrain will be less plentiful(if not any there will be rocks and old stone formations). In a jungle themed map, however, terrain is very common and greenery is plentiful.
As for the map, the map will always be a colossal, circular dome shaped arena larger than the Twisted Treeline and Crystal Scar. The map will be PACKED with an astronomical number of monster/jungle camps that provide advantages to those who defeat them. Gameplay)
The name of the game is survival. Players form seven teams of two(14 players on map) through a draft pick selection style, banning certain champs from use. Their are 7 team colors(Red, Black, Yellow, White, Blue, Green, Indigo, and Violet. Almost the colors of the rainbow) but they don't exactly play a big role other than letting you know who died and what team they were on.There can only be one of each champ per game so only 1 Katarina, 1 Yasuo, 1 Pantheon, 1 Teemo, etc. After champions are selected the game may begin.
After a boring loading screen, players will be spawned on 7 different platforms with their allies and wait there for 45 second to a minute whilst chests and monsters spawn. After this time, players will be released from platforms and able to do whatever they want. I would recommend sending one player to loot a few chests for your basic items while the other secures a safe area within the fog of war. Players are free to do whatever they want after they are released from the platform but jungling and farming monsters is highly recommended for the buffs, experience, and bonuses received from defeating them.
The Portable Trading System(PST) trinket allows you to trade with your teammate and share items they may need such as that Hunter' s Machete for your ally Udyr.
After 3:25, the shop will be opened up and players can venture to the center of the map to purchase items. Take caution when doing so, however, as players can be killed while they browse the shop! The dumbest thing you can do is get killed by a strategically stealthed Teemo while looking for some mana potions to purchase. The shop and entire map are covered by the fog of war after 2:50 so not everyone can see you when you wanna go purchase something. When playing, the only visible champions you can see are you and your ally or any enemy champions within range of vision.
After death, players enter a spectator mode where they can view remaining contestants and alter the map and gameplay from the grave through unique voting system that makes them GameMakers.
After Death)
Once you die, you enter a spectator mode(as mentioned a million times), and chat for you is disabled. You cannot send private messages either. You can, however, talk to other dead players. Every few minutes after the 20:00 mark, dead players can vote on an event that changes the way the game is played in a way such as this:
“Please vote which event will take place next-
-Release: B.E.A.S.T= A large mechanical wolf will begin roaming the jungle of the map. The beast will attack any champions who are not hidden and is very difficult to defeat. If defeated, the beast provides a powerful buff. Makes 2 full trips around the map and is visible to all. -Earthquake= A powerful earthquake takes place, dealing damage over time to all champions and receiving movement speed. -Clear Fog= The fog of war will be lifted for a short time, revealing all champions."
These are only few of the many options player's can choose to alter the game. The one with most votes will take place.
Extra Information)
-
Twisted Fate' s ultimate no longer provides full vision, but he still has his long range teleport.
-
Surrendering after 20:00 will only kill the teammates that BOTH agree to surrender, sending them into spectator mode rather than ending the game.
-
Many monsters provided wandering wards that can reveal even hidden units such as Teemo, Evelynn, Shaco, etc.
-
An early Hunter' s Machete inside of chests is extremely helpful.
