does everyone really hate mark/dash?

it seems like its being met with a ton of opposition (i.e people dont like it)... granted I hardly play ARAM,however; the few times I played with mark/dash I didnt really like how it changed the game play so personally im not a fan but still i hardly play so my opinion doesn't really apply ...and i might just be hearing the loud minority but i feel like if there is this much animosity towards it maybe the should take some polls to see what people actually think about it... or at least to see if all the animosity is from the loud minority or the community in general...

A lot of people really do hate it, myself included.

I love it. I love everything about it. Makes it much more engaging and fast-paced. I had stopped playing league for a while but mark/dash brought me back.

Anything that speeds up the embarrassingly slow pace of League is a good thing.

I dislike it because it just swings the aram problem from one end of the spectrum to the other.

The problem it attempts to solve with range being too powerful, it just swings the opposite way - with mark/dash, engage is too powerful.

Suddenly, any champion that is great in melee but just has trouble gap closing is oppressive. Meanwhile, champions that were great before got even better, such as Katarina and Talon.

It has simply changed the aram from "I hope we get poke" to "I hope we get Malphite/Gnar/Jarvan/Katarina/Talon/Alistar/etc". The worst part is the change mostly benefited tanks who wanted to engage. So now it's a game full of tanky people who can get on you easily, so that despite building tanky they still do damage - and it is just SO BORING.

"Oh look, the 4 tanky bruisers just dashed in. Guess our 5 squishies will just die while they try to whittle down their health..."

It would be ok if this wasn't aram and you could pick champions to counter tanks...but it's not. It's ARAM. At least before those without engage had the option to buy things to shore up that weakness like Randuin's, Talisman of Ascension or Righteous Glory. But now, what do squishies have to buy to counter the tank steamroll?

Not a thing. That's a much worse problem IMO than what mark/dash was trying to solve in the first place.

I honestly haven't played anywhere near a much ARAM since that Summoner spell was added. It's too much engage, too much harass, and a short cool down. On top of that you have people taking the spell on your team or either team really and marking then jumping in 1 v 4 for no reason and essentially leaving the game 4 v 5 the whole time. People like Jinx hopping in 1 v 5, or just bad decisions. It was cute for Poro Dash but not anywhere nears as fun for consistent normal gameplay. It's all around making the game mode less enjoyable.

Yeah. I do. I used to play ARAM constantly and now it's ruined. It's a completely different game mode now.

Anyone who thinks it balances the game has never seen a full AP cho'gath mark/dash in, silence and ult one-shot you. At least with flash they have to get closer.

The Mark/dash is completely stupid. A snowball makes you able to dash (teleport) to someone? that doesn't make any sense. Plus it is super broken. Get rid of it.

I like it. Adds a little spice to the 5v5 single lane. Though it makes feeding poros really hard haha

I enjoy it. I dont play ARAM a lot, but I have been playing it more recently because of mark/dash

Pr3zid3ntTrump5/17/2015, 12:15:31 AM2 votes

yep. 100% of people hate it. Scientific factoid. But we still all use it.

I was kinda neutral to the spell at first, but I could see why people hated it. However, since the nerf, it has gotten much, much worse to use.

grumpyfrogy5/16/2015, 4:00:19 PM2 votes

Honestly i find myself playing ARAM a lot more because of mark/dash, its just so much fun to use for me.

Hellmet5/20/2015, 5:22:18 AM2 votes

Hate it, not sure why they put it in there. ARAM was a lot of fun before and a great alternative if you didn't feel like playing ranked. The snow balls basically dumb down the game, kind of a bore fest now.

Drunk Rummate5/20/2015, 5:15:06 PM2 votes

A ton of people hate it, yeah. Myself included. I used to play a ton of ARAM (5-15 a day) and now I can hardly even bring myself to queue for the mode.

Polls could potentially have really skewed results as well so it's hard to judge. A lot of people don't really play ARAM except on rare occasions and they may like the snowball since it's unique, while others who play it a lot tend to dislike it because it ruins a lot of positional gameplay and it lacks counterplay.

Hoggy5/20/2015, 5:59:39 PM1 votes

Like I have said in many other topics about it, I'm fine with the inclusion but not fine with its execution.

The fact that they lowered its poke damage first instead of range/cooldown showed that Riot had no idea just how ridiculous the mode had become. (Yes I know it's currently being fixed on PBE)

When people are taking a summoner spell on champions like Xerath who have NO BUSINESS taking it, there is a problem. (For those who are unaware, Xerath's E is like Taric's where the further it goes the more it stuns, both his Q and W have wind-up/cast times so you can't even faceroll them, and his R makes him stand still and has ridiculous range so being close doesn't help).

I dislike it mainly because it is like flash. It is so good and useful in so many situations you HAVE to take it. It also changed ARAM because engage got a HUGE boost while pokers got hit hard. I personally don't mind the spell because it is a tool everyone can get and it added change to ARAM. Since I own all the champions, whenever I ended up getting an inferior pick, I dreaded keeping it because in most cases, if someone didn't dodge, the other team had 2-3 incredibly powerful poke champions. I remember going on long streaks of dodges having good champions like Kog or Fiora and then I get a Rammus and no dodge. Then I go against a team of pokers, making my life hell until we end up losing and me being frustrated the whole game. At least with mark now I can actually do something and even IF I die, I have some fun with it.

BLU Medic5/16/2015, 4:03:54 PM1 votes

People disliked it because many people would use it as a free true damage poke on a low cooldown (even if you don't use the dash), and it made people who already had flashes and dashes even better, because they could use their Mark to jump in, then use their flash/dash/blink ability to get out, rather than using their flash/dash/blink ability to initiate as normal.

Alternatively, people used it really badly and would dive in to dumb situations.

The nerf does help though.

I see people demanding it be removed, but I never see those same people offering up alternative ideas.

Even with the snowball, ranged poke comps are still superior. If you hate mark/dash so much and want it gone that's fine, but come up with a better alternative to replace it.
