Why is it Kraken Spent and not Kraken earn?

I hate it when i'm trying to get 20 kraken to get the tier 3 but enemy team surrender and i have 19 kraken. That mean that 19 kraken loss toward my goal of unlocking the act 3 icon. It irritate me because i either get some Kraken spent toward the icon not not get the tier 3 or try to go for tier 3 only to have the game end before i can spend it.
