What happened to Snowdown Showdown?

I thought it was coming back this Christmas. I specifically remember reading a red post saying not to worry about snowdown ending because it will be coming back. I assumed it was a seasonal game type for christmas. Are we getting it back or not?

This also makes me worry about URF not coming back for July 4th. They said that was coming back to.

As much as I dislike the decision, I don't think they are bringing it back. Personally, I loved the game mode because of its short game time and its utility in practicing CS against real players. Riot disliked it for its short game time, decaying popularity over the last Snowdown season and lack of variety in meta-compliant champion choices.

Each to their own, I guess.
