Backwards Ward Mode

So, I've been thinking about this...It's be awesome to have a mode where the Fog of War is completely gone, and the item 2044 wards CREATE fog. Like Little fog machines... And champs with moves like AsheAshe, and QuinnQuinn with sight abilities would be super sought after because it would be about vision being taken away from the enemy team. The pure strategy alone in duping would be phenomenal.

It'd sure as hell be cooler than nemesis

What about a mode when certain champion abilities do the complete opposite of what they're supposed to? Nocturne Removes all fog of war TwistedFate Makes all champions on the map invisible and removes their icons from the minimap Ahri Charms people away with disgust DrMundo Drains his own health and becomes extremely slow Karthus Heals all 5 enemy champions Soraka Damages all allied champions Chogath Starts the size of half the map, every time you nom something he gets smaller and smaller eventually mophing into a singularity and can't move for the rest of the game XinZhao Spins, but in the oposite direction, creating suction instead sucking all units in the radious to him, damaging himself for every unit that hits him Vladimir Cast it normally, but instead it increases healing from all sources on champions affected Amumu Befriends all champions caught in radious, permanently gaining friends, so they follow him around the map Malphite Instead of him slamming to enemy champions, he roots himself and taunts a single enemy champion to slam on him for massive damage and gets wedged inside the ground Rengar Turns ALL champions but himself invisible. They can't see eachother, but everyone can see him. All vs Rengar MonkeyKing Spins in the oposite direction digging himself through the map and to the other side of whatever planet Runeterra exists, "falling" to space. Urgot Everyone loves Urgot , Urgot is now the king of League, everyone accepts him as beautifull, powerfull and stoik. Urgot becomes the new staple of champion design, Riot's mascot, main source of memorabilia, merchandize, heart of the community and king of the universe

you would be able to see the enemy place the wards, along with knowing where the wards are. Because if you can't see a zone, then you know that there are wards there. So wards would be pointless.

There is also the whole global maphack issue; Everyone can see all players at all time; Therefore no-one jungle cause everyone knows what is being cleared (and where they are cleaing it, and how much health they have from clearing it) so they're obviously going to contest the junglers and invade always.

The fog of war isn't some arbitrary game mechanic thrown in for realism/coolfactor, it's actually a very important gameplay mechanic (like how healthbars are an important gameplay mechanic)

Mmmmm...interesting.

But the problems arise with how much of an area should wards fog off? And if it always in the center, then enemies can easily tell where they are and destroy them.

Everyone gets a super charged version of the original trinkets.

Big Bang Bob3/24/2015, 11:43:54 PM1 votes

The jungles should still be fog of war where wards and vision work normally.

Because no one likes counter junglers. LeeSin

And no one who does likes people watching them. That's creepy.

Ever ask yourself why you dont work for riot??

Spacesuit Spiff3/25/2015, 1:43:00 AM1 votes

It's a funny idea... but one of those things where idk how many times you could actually play it.

TripNichols3/25/2015, 4:36:30 AM1 votes

There are definitely some things to work out, but I think the idea is pretty solid and would definitely get some action.

Reikken3/25/2015, 10:21:20 AM1 votes

This could work and be cool, but ONLY IF wards were a LOT cheaper and the ward limit were much higher. Having small amounts of FoW is the same as having none.

I don't see Lee Sin, but I see this dark patch over here. I wonder where he could be!

Meck3/25/2015, 10:27:41 AM1 votes

Would you be able to destroy wards though? if so it makes the gamemode pointless seeing as how you could go to the middle of the fog and just break the ward.

OneMoreDaySK3/25/2015, 12:31:53 PM1 votes

How big is the fog going to be? It it's too small, then that'll just turn the fog into a giant neon sign saying "AoE Here!"

The Red Warden3/25/2015, 1:28:21 PM1 votes

TwistedFate would become a troll pick.

Your team would lose vision of enemies for 10 seconds late game.

Zirzon3/25/2015, 2:08:52 PM1 votes

Perhaps they could remove pink wards and sweepers, because everyone will know where the wards are so destroying them would be rather easy if your team gets ahead. Also, there is the possibility then of only allowing people to ward through an upgraded yellow trinket, which everyone would begin the game with.

wop3/25/2015, 3:00:23 PM1 votes

It would work if wards were permanent, as in stayed on map until destroyed, and the sweeper would have to. does the ward make fog that works on your team, or fog that works on other team? or the wards could act like bushes

Hard Penetrator3/24/2015, 8:05:01 AM1 votes

Why would ppl even buy wards to block vision if they see everything. Just go and kill stuff. This mode would not work because of a basic idea but because of players that would not want to explore it for fun.

Handful of ppl would love it probably but that's all.

You need some mechanic to force ppl to ward, like the more map you cover, more points you have or something.

Potato Doc3/24/2015, 4:23:36 PM1 votes

I think this would be better as a part of a new type of mode instead of a new mode by itself. The idea is good its just lacking what would be needed for a full on mode

Ah man! This sounds like a blast!

A novel idea! I think it'd be nice if Riot had a team or couple people dedicated to taking the game modes suggested on here and elsewhere and make them for testing on the PBE. It'd be a great use of it and we would probably see something new come of it!

AbyssionKnight3/24/2015, 9:37:59 PM1 votes

No one would ever want to play the jungler in that situation. Ganking would be next to impossible. Also, if wards created fog of war...that would just hide the area from you as well...unless you're trying to say that it would only give enemies fog of war.

Besides placing one on an objective to prevent a smite steal / random ability steal, i'm not sure what the point of wards that generate fog of war really would be.
