The big ARAM Talk
Hio, ever since ARAM was released I enjoyed it because it is so random. I feels refreshing to play different champions in short intervals. However, there are many things that doesn't fit well on Howling Abyss.
Tower
The Towers on Howling Abyss are far weaker than the ones currently present on Summoners Rift, because they Abyss towers scale the same way. But the champions aren't. Even with a little bit armor the towers doesn't deal any damage. Even the super minions deal more. Comebacks are generally hard on Howling Abyss because the winning team can easily push at least one tower with the help of the minions. But later the minions needed anymore because the tanks can easily tank even both nexus towers without any trouble. Thus I suggest to increase the armor penetration of tower from 30% to 100%. Or Increase the damage rampup of tower damage by roughly 30-50% This way even tanks need to fear the tower.
Healing and Shields
The ARAM mode shouldn't be about being a staring contest. This is why the healing value is decreased by 20%. But there are some champions who suffer under this debuff tremendously namely

These champions have several sustain issues. Not only are both examples melee but they also have to pay health for their spells. Sure there and other champions like
and
who also pay with their health. However they are ranged AND are AP which means that they prefer to buy
sooner or later.
Additionally the debuff just have to force all of those champions to buy
. Although we could argue that a small health gain remain small after 20% increase.
But the real problem without the heal debuff are the healing champions like
,
and many more. And even with the healing debuff the players tend to buy
(and rarely
) to interfere with the heals.
Not to mention that
is affected. Before the Heal rework good teams could cycle Heal to gain the maximum health out of it. This isn't possible anymore and Heal got a makeover which suites Summoner's Rift much more.
But there is something even more annoying than heal sustain: Shields. Most champions have shields due to their support or trading abilities. And especially those AoE Shields get easily out of control. Not to mention that on ARAM most of the traditional Item Carries like Janna go full AP to receive a good amount out of her shield. Not to mention Karma and Lux with their mass shields. Both of them absorb tons of damage every few seconds without anything to do against. Additionally shields can be used before any damage hits the champion and is still effective. Heals can only be used as a response to damage.
Altogher I like to tune Shields a little bit down in ARAM and buff other champions who rely on their self-heals. This would possibly conclude in something like this: Heals and Shields are reduced by 20% (excluding self-only Abilities and Summoner Spells) This way the general support strenght of heals stays the same, the strenght shields get tuned down but doesn't touch champions who rely on these mechanics like AP Sion.
Respawn and Nexus Laser
I absolutely can't stand those people who doesn't want to finish the game and stand next to the Laser and want to damage/kill the respawning champions. It is just a dickmove, doesn't provide anything and simply fucks people up. And this goes especially @Lyte. Against most champions it is even impossible to hide in the farthest corner to avoid dying and waiting for the team mates to respawn to acutally do something in the first place. Additionally the Nexus Laser is just weak. 1000 True Damage per second is not that much on Howling Abyss. I generally prefer to instakill with the laser but it just isn't fair for people who accidently run into the range since it isn't marked very well, especially in the corners. Suggested Changes: Respawning Champions are now unaffected by enemies until leaving the Spawn Platform or casting an ability The Nexus Laser now deals 50% maximum health per second to enemy champions and instakills minions
Poros
They are way to awesome to not let them do more. Thus I suggest some changes to them.
- Poros are now affected by all area effects (knock-up, knock aside, Sona's Crescendo, speed boost, etc)
- Poros no longer block minions (honestly: so annoying, much like Orianna Ball)
- Poro-Snax are now eaten by Winter-Wonder Lulus Poro on using Help, Poro
- Shadow Poro still awesome
Recall
Most of the newer skins and champions have recall animations. Sadly, nobody can see them on Howling Abyss. A simple but effective change: **Using Recall on Howling Abyss now starts the Recall animation properly without the additional Recall SFX and without actually recalling. ** At first I was thinking about adding the Return animation, too. But then Braum came to my mind. It always confused me when he hops in from the side.
