A Map of Chance and Luck

The only way to get rid of 'meta' to create a map with designs of randomness(a bit like the river crab). I think a map with no meta, is one of, if not the most desired feature in League of Legends.

There are two variables in League:

  1. Champions - let it be c
  2. Boosts - items, Masteries, Runes - let it be variable 'b'.

If you think about it, no matter what, a combination of c and b would always be superior than another combination. Unless there is a 3rd variable in game design, the game would never be meta-free/truly balanced.

Suppose randomness of map is set as 'm'. m could be things like: -a weapon that gains strengh under certain environment of the map -a large/random jungle, such that laning is optional for weak laners -narrowing/widening of lanes such that some champs may benefit, others not so much -a map design that is good/bad for sieging

Now the optimal equal becomes m*(b + c). Since m is 'uncontrollable', optimized b and c would be map dependent, and therefore a true variable. You can pick the champion you want to play, and pick the items that optimizes the map.

for what i can tell, most people hate RNG stuff like crit. A fully random map that will be heavily luck based, take away some of the skills involved in league and while possibly amusing, cant also get very boring. Just imagine something like 5 ranged poke champ vs 5 melee in aram, not the most fun.
