New maps? Does it happen?

Im new...dont hate. Is there hope for new / more maps? Is that a thing that happens in lol? I know its been around a long time, but ive been playing for a couple weeks, so i have no clue.

As for new maps, that's a no (as far as we know).

On the other hand. Summoner's Rift is getting a complete visual overhaul. You can read the official announcement here.

Well, if you have not seen it already, a brand new League of Legends Cinematic, A New Dawn, has just recently come out. You can watch it here.

It's pretty badass. You'll get a kick out of it.

Riot does not typically announce their shiny, new things until they are absolutely ready. You'll come to learn that.

So everybody has been playing summoners rift for years now? I dont know man....its like playing nuketown 2012 for 5 years on cod with a new gun once every couple months. Doesn't that get boring?

It's not about the map, it's about the teamplay, the champs and situations. Btw, you do know that there is also "The Crystal Scar", "Howling Abyss" and "Twisted Treeline"?

Well so far in solo bots...there isnt anything that i can recognize as "teamplay" or anything id even put the "team" label on...Maybe thats what im missing then?

You only played botgames so far? Hmm...well, that is maybe the reason every game feels the same. Playing against other players is more interesting because the games are all different. Your opponents and your allies will try interesting metas and sometimes there are the mindgames (If you are playing in the jungle for example).

Edit: Remember that there are over 100 differend champions with individual dynamics that allow you to make interesting plays!

Thing is, you'll never have the same experience on the Rift. Every game brings its own exciting enemies, plays, challenges, and mysteries along with it. Nothing remains the same.

That, and as ProBlackquill stated, there are three other maps/modes you can try your hand at if you find yourself growing bored.

Well, there's the yearly mechanical overhauls that come with a new season freshening the game, significantly changing the meta. You might need to get a bit more experienced to be able to fully see the effects of them but they generally shake up the champion pool/playstyle.

Certain new champion release also add new strategies to the game (Yasuo added the knockup wombo-combo, Braum redefined 'protect the carry', Vi ruins 'protect the carry' when she feels like it) while also allowing you to try a new approach to the game (different roles and sometimes champions make you view the game entirely differently).

Then there's also the game modes that pop up every now and then like the doom bots of doom that's currently going on.

There is hope for new maps at -some- point (Crystal Scar, Twisted Treeline and Howling Abyss were all new maps at one point). There's no plan that we know of for a new map currently. The last planned new map died on the drawing board (well, more in the lab I guess, but in any case never made it to players even as a beta). Each other map requires balancing items and champions that are being primarily balanced for Summoner's Rift so a new map has to offer significantly different gameplay opportunity to be worth the continual investment of time maintaining the map, in addition to the up-front investment in design and art for the new map. Map resources right now are being poured into a new look for Summoner's Rift, so it's very unlikely that there's a new map being currently worked on unannounced.

Riot can't support the maps they already have, people always ask for new maps but no not enough people play the ones we already have. 99% of people just play SR, I play dominion but the community is WAY smaller, mostly because riot doesn't support dominion or twisted treeline.
