Question About Rengar

So one thing has always been on my mind since A New Dawn. How exactly does Rengar go invisible?

In the cinematic Rengar comes out of his camo as you can see:

And in-game is a similar style, but I always wondered what exactly is going on here?

Khazix has specifically evolved to become near invisible and can further evolve that power, but what about Rengar? Is he using some kind of hextech enhancement? He does appear to have an eye replaced with a synthetic implant. Would he use a device to activate a camouflage like Predator, or does he know just enough magic to cast this one spell?

Thrill of the Hunt Rengar's predatory instincts take over, Camouflaging him...

It could be a natural born power too. Is there more known about Rengar's species? Just something I've always wondered about.

Your asking a unique kind of question, the kind that there literally isnt an answer for. Only the community could speculate, but thats hard when theres nothing to build up a theory from. It would be like asking how does Kayle and Morganna fit into the lore? What happened to Fizz's people? Or how does the Void operate/ function? All are good questions, all generate interesting discussion, and all suffer from a huge lack of continuity.

My cynical opinion: I guess Rengar needed that movie Predator thematic so bad that at the time Riot's dev teams just brushed the logic under the rug. Here's to hoping someone from World Building want to tackle this character's lore sometime soon.

He's leaping out of invisibility in his splash art as well, so it's not just a in-game only mechanic like Garen's ultimate.

I have no clue how he does it. I don't think Rengar being magical really suits his theme.

He has an invisible cardboard box that he hides under.

The creatures of Runeterra only vaguely connect with our creatures in real life. I would speculate that the camouflage IN GAME could be innate or MEANT TO REPRESENT that rengar is actually HIDING or stalking in grass, as this is mostly impossible in-game, but since its seen in splash art, I'd guess its an innate ability. The tech over his eye was after he was wounded by Kha'Zix.

Hextech is magic dude. The "Tech" in the League Universe, if you paid attention to the piltover stories, is just machinery that replicates magical output. Most of the machines in piltover run on magic (Or hechtech crystals, originally from the Brackren Skarner, which are themselves magical, and their synthetic replicas, also magical) and are used to produce more magic. Even most machines that run on Oil or other substances usually have some form of magical output. So even IF (which i doubt), rengar is using technology, the nature of his invisibility is still magical.

My personal theory is that his speacies, whatever the hell it is, can naturally magically bend light around themselves to produce invisibility.
