The power creep in the lore is getting stupid. Riot apparently wants people to care about the lore again, but how can there be any tension when one of the champions (which is to say, one of its protagonists) is a cosmic star maker that is literally billions of times more powerful than every other character combined?
Were he just a facet of the lore it would be one thing (if still stupid), but how we take Miss Fortune's struggle for control over Bilgewater seriously when there is a champion that could flatten it with his finger?
Also, the trailer implies that Aurelion Sol is a malevolent, or at least harmful, entity. If that is the case, how exactly will the lore justify Runeterra's survival? Is our resident mentally disabled Yordle going to beat him up with her big hammer?
I felt the same way about Kindred's release ("The new champion is literally death and as such it's impossible to fight her, but we made her a character in this video game and are gonna have Garen be able to beat her up!"), but Aurelion Sol is literally billions (probably more) of times more powerful, assuming the visuals in this video are accurate. At least Kindred was bound to Runeterra.
