Pretty bummed out about Rek'Sai's "voice"

I was pretty excited when I found out that the new monster of the void that was coming out was actually going to be a female monster. It was pretty cool. All the monster's thus far have been huge titted shapeshifters or Anivia. Rek'Sai looked terrifying and I was excited to hear what she sounded like, especially considering her link to the Void and all its inhabitants.

But no. We get a bunch of pig squeals and roars. Basically this was just a standard male champ that they said "Oh hey! We can call it a girl to finally appease those fucking GDers but really it doesn't make a difference since you can't tell no matter what!"

All of the other Void champions can speak, even the "infant" Kog'Maw. But I guess Rek'Sai can't? Seven minutes of voice dialogue for... what? At least Gnar made noises that made a bit of sense. So frustrating. So much wasted potential.

I agree. I was hoping for a voice almost like Blackfrost Anivia's - serene, but full of potential malice. Would be so awesome...but growls, squeals...and all this?

I wanna play this champ, there is so much potential for her, really...I just feel a bit downcast at how her VO is just...noises. Yeah I get monsters make noises. But the Void are monsters with intelligence - and every monster shows it.

Why does she need a voice? it seems rather nitpicky to get exactly what you have been asking for -a female monster champ- and then complain "she has no voice"

Can we just appreciate the hard work that went into this champ?

I mean what real purpose does Rek'Sai have to learning a language? Lets not forget that she is part of a race(species?) of void creatures. I personally prefer her not able to talk, I mean she does just kill stuff why would she bother learning the language of her prey? You could say the same thing about the other void champions but still I just can't see her talking. And who's not to say she is capable of learning the language but maybe she just chose not to, just because she speak's a language we can't understand doesn't mean she's any less intelligent than the other void champions. In fact her not speaking runeterran makes her feel more sophisticated as if she is saying you're language is meaning less. Although there is one thing I do wonder...Do the other void champions know what she is saying?

I dont understand why Riot is making champs that cant talk... all the other void monsters talk, skarner talks, Rammus can talk, Spider Elise can talk, Fizz can talk, Shyvana Dragon can talk... EVEN SONA SAYS THINGS IN GAME.

... and Gnar is learning how to talk, he says some things in game...

But the new monster? no... Rek'Sai could be easily considered a genderless monster (or even male) instead of a champion, just like the problems that Omen had (and even skarner before his release).

If Rek'Sai was announced, just as a video, no pronouns involved, no "Queen of the Xer'Sai" or anything like that, what would most people assume its gender was?

I don't mind her not appearing to be female at all; the pronoun 'she' is enough for me. I do mind her not expressing her own feelings and such like every champion except Gnar does (didn't like Gnar's voice either).

What about Shyvana? I'm not trying to say this is warranted-if Cho can talk Rek'sai should be able to-but isn't Shyvana a female beast champion?

As someone who has been waiting so long for a female monster, I love her. There's no reason why Riot couldn't make another female monster and give her the typical monster voice. Though I may be giving them too much credit, maybe they think they've filled the female monster quota and there's no reason to have another female champion ever again. I really, really hope that's not the case and that they're smart enough to see there's a lot you can do with champions who happen to be female, just like with male ones. Even among male champions there are varying degrees of masculinity, both in their bodies and their voices.

I like that her nonsense dialogue makes Rek'Sai stand out, not just the fact that she's the first female monster (I don't count shapeshifting cosplayers as monsters). Frankly I'm tired of all the generic monster voices recently. They ruined Nasus and Vel'Koz with them. I guess a typical female monster voice would be slightly different, but I wanted something really different and this is it.

I love her design but I do wish she had a voice. That's one of the things I love about the void monsters is their dialogue but she just grunts and squeals.

Gnar is actually speaking his native language (according to a Gnar Q&A) from 10,000 years ago before he got frozen.

But it is a bit of a shame that this champion has no real dialogue. But I also kind of like that there is a true "monster" type champion now. One that seems purely animal instead of just a strange looking creature that can talk.
