Not sure how I feel about Pantheon's lore now...

I was a little uneasy about him being the "Aspect of War" but was willing to see how it played out. But now that he's a personality-less, inhuman amalgamation of souls or whatever I can safely say I don't like it.

Edit: I guess they could do some interesting things with it but I feel like he's going to suffer from "Space Marine" syndrome now.

Eh, I don't really like it. Pantheon is my favorite champion, and I was digging Atreus. But Atreus doesn't matter. It specifically calls that out. It could have been a bunny on top of that mountain, it doesn't matter. Pantheon arrived on the mortal plane and became Pantheon, some weird god thing.

I would have much preferred if we actually got to flesh out what Pantheon was. A badass warrior from a warrior tribe that is now undergoing a complete religious transformation. How does he react to the new gods? What are his goals, real goals, like who does he go to war with, what does he stand to gain from his life, what does it mean to be a paragon of his people, what is the story of his ancestors relic weapons, will he live up to them? Those are all questions that could have been great to flesh out who he was.

Now we waste a lot of time fleshing out Atreus (and I admit I really liked Atreus), but so what? Atreus is dead, and we learned nothing about Pantheon other than he's a dangerous god that likes to fight. So what? That's not interesting. That's just a power fantasy.

Ehh, I know I'm bitching, but I really don't like the changes that have been made to my favorite character.

Your title is somewhat misleading.

Atreus's sacrifice will be honored.

I feel like this perspective can work in its own way. To me it feels like a tragedy where Atreus went through all these hardships and even lost one his best friend/rival but he ended becoming an emotionless being whose only purpose is to start wars and celebrate brutal combat while willfully accepting this kind of fate.

Pantheon's new lore is disappointing to say the least, he had so much potential and now he's just... nothing. He is war in human flesh, no human traits we can relate to, no personality to speak of, no flaws, I honestly can't believe someone was PAID to write this.

Pantheon The aspect of Baking!

Is all I thought about while reading that lore.

Lovely Pants2/25/2016, 10:56:48 PM3 votes

Can't say I'm a huge fan. The character that becomes Pantheon is interesting. As an aspect, Pantheon himself feels a bit Leona-lite to me now, though, with the changes that have been done to the rest of Targon also in perspective.

I'm starting to feel uneasy for Taric's background, if the thoughts of him becoming another aspect of Targon turn out to be correct. Even if a lot of his personality has been traditionally ascribed more by in-game vocals and the community than strictly by lore, he's always been a very distinct kind of earthly character. The protector vibe of Targon may somewhat suit him, but I don't think he belongs in the same realm as these aspects.

To be fair, he never really had a personality to begin with. I think what might happen in the future is we'll see an internal struggle between Atrius and Pantheon.

While I get the 40K vibe. Honestly, when I think of body snatching alien parasites claiming to be gods I think of the Goa'uld from SG-1. Which, yeah, that's pretty much what happened to Atreus

What if Atreus still exists somewhere within the flesh containing the Aspect of War? I think that this may actually be the case. I'm not sure though.

Maybe he's gonna have split personalities

GreenLore2/25/2016, 11:52:42 PM1 votes

Well I guess that Pantheon himself could have his own personality,we just don't get much of it,since the bio mainly focuses on his former life. I could also see pantheon still feeling atreus inside of him.

Kaamos2/26/2016, 5:19:58 AM1 votes

Yes it's said that Atreus had become unrecognizable, had died in memory, emotion, personality, etc. but I don't think that's what was actually shown. In "The Spear of Targon" Pantheon is doing exactly what Atreus aspired to: intercepting foreign threats before they pose a threat to Targon. The dialogue is also curious, because Pantheon is aware of the foreigners' ill intent. Despite knowing that, he gives them the chance to turn back.

I think that there is a subtle disconnect between the legend that the Rakkorans and Solari believe and the actuality of Atreus becoming an aspect of war. In the Rakkoran family's eyes Atreus is destroyed in all but body, but based on the second chapter I think it would be more fitting to say that he was assimilated rather than obliterated. Having been accepted into a literal pantheon of chosen few, he now has the power to protect Targon in the way he sees fit.

TDA Vanessa2/26/2016, 9:17:58 AM1 votes

Well, no more Pantheon shipping with Diana or Leona now.

But I don't know, Leona became the aspect of the sun and still has her memories and personality. Same with Diana when she became the aspect of thr Moon. Why Atreus became Pantheon? Why did he forgot everything? I didn't like the lack of explanation for this.

EROTIC RAID BOSS2/26/2016, 10:27:14 AM1 votes

He was already personality-less now its just canon 😏

Seems ok to me but what he really needs is a vu so he doesn't look so spartan and out of place. It doesn't have to be drastic but it bugs me. Plus his cape was red in the story

RG Velean2/26/2016, 4:40:57 PM1 votes

I don't really understand what happened considering I never new pantheon, did it just change his lore and voice overs?
