Why Mordekaiser SHOULDN'T be AD.

You often see posts on how Mordekaiser after his VGU should be ad, as it fits his thematics more... But people misunderstand Mordekaiser and WHY is he as terryfing as he is. Mordekaiser doesn't bring terror, because he is a big dude that hits hard with a big weapon... Nor because he is a powerful necromancer who casts horryfing spells...

But because he is both.

Mordekaiser is the bad guy of the league. He is the Overlord. Undead warlord who cannot be stopped (for long) or killed. He is one of the most dangerous forces on runeterra. And the thing about him is that he isn't powerful in one type of combat. You can send a warrior after him, but the warrior will fall before his strength... You can send a mage, but he too shall be overpowered by Mordekaiser's dark arts.

Mordekaiser is a warrior... Mordekaiser is a mage... and Mordekaiser is a strategist, leader and a cunning tyrant. These thing are what makes him as big of a threat to the world as he is.

Riot needs to improve hybrid champs and builds, not make everything AD or AP. It's fun trying to outsmart and outbuild enemies in any meta.

Yeah, what I am saying is that they shouldn't make him ad. He can be hybrid or ap (Since his looks take care of the 'strong warrior' part of his thematics).

I would rather not see him go all AP. Sadly only his Q scales with AD, but it packs a wallop. I hope the W gets replaced and has mixed scaling on it.

Hybrid is hard to balance but it is neat.

Not only was he a powerful dark sorcerer in life who used magic to enslave the souls of his enemies, at this point he is literally an undead spirit kept "alive" through a necromantic ritual that binds him to his armor. A ritual that is conducted by several undead liches of his own creation.

So yeah I'm damn well expecting him to be at least hybrid, leaning more towards AP if anything.

he wouldn't be able to move without magic

Riot needs to make improve on AP items. Need moar AP bruiser items and clean up this AP item mess in general if mordekaiser itemization is gonna be effective.

I wouldn't call him the bad guy of league. There are many who rival or completely stomp Morde like A Sol, what laughed at A Sol, etc.

Vartius1 votes

actually, while a sol is probably more powerful than Morde, he wouldn't be able to actually destroy him. Mordekaiser is not only immortal - at the moment he is invurnerable. Plus, thing is - Sol doesn't care. He only gives a shit about targon. Who else could stop Mordekaiser? Everyone else either doesn't care or is too weak.

Mordekaiser was powerful enough when he was only living... When he was undead he could already bring down thousands of warriors before being overpowered. and his lore says that Black Mist additionaly empowers him, making him pretty much invicible.

Who else could stop Mordekaiser? Everyone else either doesn't care or is too weak.

Yorick, Taric, Vayne, Lucian, Evelynn, Maokai, potentially other Aspects (their purposes are too vague), Lissandra, potentially Xerath, Syndra, or Soraka all could be dangerous foes to Morde.

If Morde was trying to conquer the world once more, there would be a shit ton more of people who would try to stop him. Others like Zilean, Malphite, Kayle, etc. who have outdated lore could be very viable threats. Ivern would take action most likely. Possibly even Kindred would take a role, as Morde would be a soul they've long sought after.

Yorick is not nearly strong enough - Even in his taunt he says that his army will one day knock on Morde's door - he still gathers an army. (If he could take action already, then he would - he hates Morde with burning hatred) Vayne is also too weak. She is just a human. Mordekaiser is way beyond any human level possible. Maokai is still leagues below Morde, just like all beings on shadow isles. Eve we don't know how strong will she be after rework, plus quite possible she will side with Morde. You really underastimate Mordekaiser power. Not only is he isanely powerful, he also has a giant undead army. He is godlike compared to all undead from shadow isles. Kindred can't do shit as well as we can easily take from the fact that she consideres all undead abominations but didn't do shit with Shadow Isles. Plus as I said - Mordekaiser simply cannot be killed.

You massively overestimate Mordekaiser, an outdated champion who is in dire need of a VGU. Morde could be killed if his bone we're screwed with again.

Vayne is not your ordinary human.

Vartius1 votes

He cannot be killed. If his bones were screwed with it'd only postpone his revival, as his bones cannot be destroyed - seen by the fact that on Blessed Isles they knew most about magic etc and anti-dark arts and they weren't able to actually get rid of the skull. EDIT: also yea, he needs VGU, he is outdated... But I am talking lore standpoint. His lore is new.

Arakadia1 votes

Doesn't he need a complete skeleton to be revived? And if he's being revived, that means he's being revived from death I think.

Vartius1 votes

He needs the full thing, but as evidenced by blessed isles incident, his remains will always, sooner or later be found. Plus if he knew that his skeleton wasn't complete he'd probably try to retreat untill he gets it back (Once again, when it happened in the story his liches were too terrified to tell him) as for the second point - I meant more of an actual, permament death. With no way back - It is at the moment impossible. You can go ahead and listen to League Podcast Network : Ep. 25 - Inside Shadow Isles. They talk about Mordekaiser at about 28th minute. Pretty interesting stuff.

Vartius1 votes

also xD Fun fact: They actually literally say that in the same podcast 'Mordekaiser has the potential to be the runeterrean bad guy' when asked why they make his story to be such a big scope. Plus - it's not like this is the only age in the known history when there are strong 'champions', yet Mordekaiser somehow was the master of most known world for millenias. and he was weaker then, because he had no black mist boost as he has now.

Vartius1 votes

also - Thing about Mordekaiser is that he is not only ultra powerful, but he is also smart and cunning. as said by a rioter in a podcast, he always has a backup resurrection plan. Whenever you think you got him he's back. He was stopped once because his liches decided not to tell him his skull was stolen - if they had told him that'd be a whole new story.
