Tomorrow comes the new PBE Cycle... And there are three possible things that may come out...

  1. New Pentakill skins (featuring new female vocalist) [PROBABLE]
  2. Pentakill skin rework. [EH? NOT SO PROBABLE]
  3. ... This one will be described a bit further down. Why tomorrow? Pentakill new songs, Bloodthirster and Tear Of The Goddess were released on friday last week. New minisite launched with it saying it's Coming Soon. That means that the album is well finished by now... However they didn't release it on friday... they didn't release it today, monday. Why would they wait so long? PBE new cycle. It's going to be released with whatever it is that comes out in the next cycle. Pentakill skins are probable, since the female singer was confirmed not to be Sona. It could be someone not related to Pentakill, but then why bother waiting for patch? It could be because they want to rework the skins... But that wouldn't make much sense... They aren't going to update skins without updating chams (At least not very much.. Some changes, maybe textures could make an appearance.) http://imgur.com/VaaX4fT

There is still a third possibility... ... not a real possibility, because well... It most likely ( 99%) is NOT going to happen. HOWEVER! Mordekaiser may get VGU. Now! BEFORE YOU CLOSE THIS TAB! Hear me out... (Or don't. It's mostly a fever dream of a Morde fanatic) It wouldn't be the first time when an champ update comes out of nowhere... It happened once before. Champ no one really talked about (since everybody knew she was cancer and it wasn't worth wasting any more words on her), Riot didn't give any hints she would be up for an update, nor was she scheduled to get one... I speak of course of Fiora. Fiora got a full VGU out of nowhere. So it would in theory be possible for Mordekaiser to get one right now.

FURTHERMORE I strongly believe that Mordekaiser will get some attention this year. Why? In "One Will Reign" League cinematic at the end, if you look closely you can see Mordekaiser mace and helmet lying on the field. IT CAN BE SEEN HERE

NEXT POINT In Mordekaiser lore we see heavy foreshadowing of an event... An event where Mordekaiser attacks Noxus. (his old fortress) An event like that would come out only during either Mordekaiser VGU or Swain VGU. Swain VGU is scheduled... but before him comes Evelynn. Mordekaiser would attack noxus only during the Harrowing - Harrowing used to come out only during halloween, but Riot said that it won't be the case anymore and that it may come at any time. Thing is... If Harrowing doesn't come soon... It'll come when Evelynn is reworked... And if it comes when Evelynn is reworked, it won't come when Swain gets VGU. SO! The Noxus v Morde event either comes now... Or we'll have to wait A LONG TIME to see it. THEREFORE I SPECULATE! OR RATHER HOPE! or rather beg... THAT MORDEKAISER SHALL BE REWORKED TOMORROW...!

EDIT: ... I don't get it! Battle Boss Skins have been previewed on Riot instagram. By the looks of it, all three will be 1350 RP. If three skins like that have come out, it's VEEERY unlikely that new Pentakill skins will come... However, why would they not release the PTK album yet? If it wasn't to build up hype for skins, then why? Album will be free, so it's not like they will gain anything by waiting so long. I assumed it was because something would come out with it. The "Mordekaiser VGU" thing was, as I said, my wish, but I don't actually believe in it (as I mentioned above). I was honestly expecting at least 1 new PTK skin... but as it stands now I don't know what to expect.

Not to nit pick, but Shen also had a VGU come out of nowhere. :) Just helps to further your point, and I too hope something like this is still possible. It's unlikely the case, but hopefully possible.

Tbh he's an easy candidate for a surprise VGU.

They have his lore set down, his character set down, his theme and fantasy set down... literally all they need is to make a model of some walking armor -> easier with no face animations or complicated movement. And then come up with a kit that says BIG ASS MACE TO YOUR FACE, and turn the ultimate into something like this: "Undead Authority: Activates an AoE around Mordekaiser that slowly drains health, all units (no epic monsters) that die there become mindless ghosts that start attacking enemies and walk towards the enemy base if no enemies can be found. Stops when the first champion dies and becomes a ghost."

Apart from that cook up a simple kit like Sion's - ya know, this is how you do BIG ASS WEAPON - and then you'd be good to go.

My hope is that they turn him AD, would make design so much easier. Morde is not scary because hes some evil magics guy. No, in most cases he wont even need the magic to beat you to pulp because he's JUST THAT FREAKING STRONG. The dark magics is just a bonus, that makes him from "scary" to "one of the most dangerous entities to ever walk the earth".

You're forgetting the possibility of the new champ Reav3 talked about in his champ road map blog. Last time he talked about a new champ, Kayn was revealed for the next cycle.

Also, Morde's VGU is one of the most highly anticipated out of all of the champs. Now that Yorick and Urgot are out of the way, the most likely bottom of the barrel champ to get a VGU is Morde. Whereas I can certainly see them surprising us, I highly doubt it, especially since Urgot is coming this patch.

You also have to remember that VGUs come from "pods" of designers over at Riot. As of right now, they have 2, and I believe they are wanting to make a 3rd. Yes, that 3rd pod could come out of nowhere, I really doubt they would keep it secret.

Not to be "that guy" or anything, but I doubt morde will have a surprise update anytime soon. If they were gonna surprise us with a morde VGU then what was the point in fixing some of his bugs on PBE? Believe me, I wish we'd get an update. as much as i adore morde's current kit, it doesn't really do his lore justice. My guess is just all of the pentakill skins are gonna get updated (olaf already got one on PBE) as well as a pentakill ward. That's my theory at least Mordekaiser

There won't be new Pentakill skins, because that doesn't make sense. Pentakill is a band, and it's just this band, since the very beginning.

FUN FACT: When I shared my speculations with my friend, Delarthian from EUNE he said that if I were to be right, he'd buy knee-high military boots and eat them on a twitch lifestream and then he'd upload said lifestream to ...   1. The new cycle starts tonight because the patch update is tomorrow and we normally start a new cycle the day before.
  2. I believe on twitter or instagram we got a sneak peak at some other skins coming to the cycle.
