Yorick VGU!! (Thoughts and rambling)

Sometimes I just get in the mood to ramble about stuff, and the Yorick VGU seems like a good thing for that.

... Anyway, I know it's sort of nitpicky, but I like to think I can't be the only one dissatisfied with his new model from the looks of it we've got so far, right? I like how the old Yorick looked like some type of grungy, nasty, hunched-over, creepy zombie man with a lantern and stuff. Really drove home the sort of 'gravedigger, ferryman leading you to your afterlife' sort of feel on him in my opinion. But with the new model, there's just something so... off about him that I can't put my finger on. I think it's because of the lack of color variety in my opinion, but then again, that's Shadow Isles champs for you. I do hope he still has red, green, and blue ghouls though. ;^;

But for some reason I don't feel like the other Shadow Isles champs are as bland as he is. I mean, Yorick's just so... blue. Blue ghouls, blue skin, blue hood, hell even the grey parts of his armor seem blue-ish, and the only part that isn't is his cape of Black Mist (which is an amazing touch by the way).

EDIT: I think my major problem after a bit of thought is he doesn't really seem undead. He just sorta looks like some creepy uncle who painted himself blue and put on a cool costume. Take Sion, for example who looks like a hulking zombie juggernaut, then compare him to Yorick... yeah.

Other than that though, i'm pretty hyped for this. Yorick rework and Baker Pantheon? What a time to be alive!

His new model lacks depth and is too standardized. It looks like some kind of reaper taric skin that didn't work out.

I think that the community is way too quick to judge a champion from its teaser... but anyway, I'll bite.

I really like the direction they took with Yorick, he's mostly blue which is odd for a shadow isle champion since most of them always keep a green-ish hue instead but at the same time it makes him stand out quite a lot, there is no way for you to mistake Yorick with Karthus or any other shadow isle champion and that's a huge win.

The undead status on league of legends lore is very maleable, I think the problem is that he looks quite meaty in contrast with the boney figures we're used to see on shadow isles champions. Thing is that most shadow isle champions aren't precisely undead but more like eternally cursed, they don't rot underground and suddenly come up, they probably maintain their shape from the moment they were cursed. If anything, current yorick doesn't look undead either, he looks more like a raggedy jacked up hobo.

I don't think he'll keep his 3 colored ghouls either, different color for ghouls would probably add a bit of visual noise if he's able to have more than 3 out at the same time which has been hinted for quite a while.

Last but not least, I'd urge everyone to wait for the reveal since what we've seen is but his idle stance. For those die-hard yorick fans, there's gonna be some of you who simply dislike the VGU but understand that having one champ being completely outdated makes no sense in the bigger scheme of things, Riot works holistically meaning that his color, his shape, his VO and even his gameplay are all interconnected with his updated lore.

I feel pretty much the same, he is a gravedigger. and he has that old muggy/mysterious look of "what happened to you?" with his hunchback and lantern.

the new yorick doesn't give me that feel anymore.

My issue is similar to yours. He looks more like an undertaker then the dude who digs the graves. His shoulder armor gives him a Wowish feel and more like he has armor. Yorick is a gravedigger so he need the tools of the trade. He is based off a grave digger in the turn of the century when graves where dug at night for some reason. He needs is lantern for a light source for digging graves at night. He has been digging graves for century so he has been hunched over with the shoveling he has done. His build is good dirt is heavy. I love the clock and hood he just needs his lantern and be more hunched over and get rid of the fucking shoulder things he isnt a soldier why does he have armor?
