Where's Vlad?

Like for real you include all the other Noxians and even Kayn who isnt even Noxian by alignment and Riven who's a filthy deserter, and y'all forget to include the blood man. I mean I don't want to sound like a broken record, but I'm going to ignore that notion and power straight on through.

We get nothing on him during the Noxus/Swain Update other than a sparse, short bio that just asks more questions and answers next to nothing. Got a bunch of story-based lore that doesnt even mention him. We finally get some info on blood magic as a whole and...it's through Varus's lore.

I'm not going to use the word insulting, because I'm not a whiny brat who expects something on my favourite champions every time there's a lore event, or that we're owed content by virtue of not having a skin for X amount of years. It's nice to get stuff sure, but it's not a right.

Granted, it's also not nice to feel ignored. Even a little representation in a video like this would go a long way.

I'd like to think it's just an oversight, or that it was intentional and Vladimir players can have something to look forward to (yes, I know the skin is coming and we're all very grateful for that pool party Vladimir please).

It's...frustrating, but thank you for your time. I hope this at least catches someone's eye.

Honestly though the trailer is great and Irelia looks awesome, can't wait to see more details on her.

Hi ToB,

I love conspiracy theories, and would love to confirm yours, but sadly I cannot.

When we make any video featuring gameplay, we make the video for a worldwide audience. This means we localize the video voice over into the appropriate language, and also have to make sure that we understand and respect each regions cultural sensitivities.

Vlad as an example is bloodred in the west, but in most eastern countries, his abilities are black. So when a discrepancy like this exists, we have to weigh a few things.

  • What does including the champion add to the video?
  • Could another champion fill the same spot?
  • Does including the champion add enough value to the story that it justifies creating additional versions for each region?

We seriously considered using Vlad, but ultimately we could tell the Irelia story without him. With that being the case, we made the decision that it would be better to spend our time leveling up the video, as opposed to having to do multiple versions to include him.

All of that said, should we ever decide to tell a story that Vlad would help make amazing, we'd 100% include him, and do the red version for regions where he's red, and black version for the regions he's black.

Honestly, when I think Noxus, my first thought isn't Vlad. I can understand feeling left out though. We need more lore! Lore all around! Give us more lore please!

I don't know about you, but when I think about Noxus, I don't really think about Vlad. Hell, an average person with minimal knowledge about the lore would probably not even know that he's a Noxian unless he already knew. Sure he is red but he doesn't look much like a Noxian anymore.

He does probably need something though. Like maybe some new lore or a new skin? I think his last skin was soulstealer vlad and Vlad is a pretty iconic champion.

You can't leave a Riot work alone without saying a but Vlad is noxian but they included in the video the Noxians who are threat to Ionia , who attacked Ionia and killed people there , Vlad didn't do that , her mission is to protect her country from them .

I think it's because he'd never go into the field of the noxus Ionia war, but the others would or did. And Kayn was used as a child soldier during the war.

Actually he was not the only noxian left out Kled (also Elise to some extend).

Yeah noticed too. But i think its because they really havent figured out which direction they wanna take him. The problem with Vlad in terms of Lore is that he really never was that well defined. Hes part of Noxus but well the only reason for that is that hes a Bloodmage wich makes him sort of "evil" and that used to be enough for riot to make you noxian. Also with the Swain rework he is in even more of a Crisis. Honestly we dont even know if hes human anymore. I think they got some cool new ideas in that new Lore Update, but because it feels a lot like work in progress im not surprised if they bench him for a while.

Fam, this issue isn't new or tied to Vlad alone. Sona also still has no lore, and we know more about the woman who's supposed to adopt her (Lestara Buvelle, through Quinn's backstory) than we know about Sona. And it's been years!

I'm assuming kayn is there because he started off as just a noxian soldier?

Noxian by birth, Kayn and others like him were conscripted as child soldiers, a cruel practice employed by only the most devious commanders of the empire.
