A quick glance at my ranked profile will tell you I play a lot of Xerath. It's probably no surprise that I own a Xerath skin with how much Xerath I play. But I never use that skin. I prefer plain old unskinned Xerath over that skin. ######(And apparently writing this post with every sentence on a new line.) Am I weird for having a skin and not using it?
I own Karma and her lotus skin. I never played Karma in my entire life. :^) Was just bad luck, I rerolled 3 champ shards and got Karma without any intention to play her ever. Then I got a mystery gift and the skin for her. FML.
But mostly I just don't use a skin because I have a better one.
Have traditional, but just use junkyard.
Have championship, but just use bloodmoon.
Have officer, but prefer her default skin.
Have whistler village, but prefer default.
Granted, I didn't buy these skins (I just buy if I am really sure that I use the skin). I got them from mystery gifts or hextech crafting. ^^
I own all skins for Karma and only use Conqueror and Winter Wonder the most lately. Traditional now and then depending on how I feel about her voice actress.
I did propose a random skin slot where the game choose the skins for you but I doubt it will come.
I own all skins for Sion. I use all of them semi-regularly except for lumberjack.
Honestly its up in the air for me. I use skins probably about 65% of the time. Sometimes I just don't care heavily.
I don't think it's weird at all, you just have a preference. I mean I own every Ashe skin, but I really only use Project anymore. Same for MF, own every skin but really only use Road Warrior.
It honestly depends on how I feel like I have alot of Galio and Warwick skins but I only use the skins when I feel like it I enjoy their classic model more than alot of their skins. As for old champs with a legendary skin I need to use it because the older model isnt appealing to me
I hardly ever play with any of the champs I own that do have skins on their classic model, which makes it harder for me to rotate between skins when I play a champ that I own a lot of skins for. Plus it doesn't help that I prefer using the more newer skins than the older skins. Like an example would be MF. They did updated her ingame models but because the older skins don't match the splasharts (which are in the works) and a lack of unique recall animation that I just rotate between her Arcade, Captain which should have been default and Swimsuit.
Another one would be Morgana but oh gosh her base model needs an update that I mostly play her in Ghost bride skin.
But hey if you want to use the skin once in a while, do what I do. When I'm red side with Morg, I'm either Blackthorne or Bewitching, and on Blue side I'm Ghost Bride or Lunar Wraith bonus if it's with a Lunar Wraith Cait
