After starting to lose the grasp in market battle with pepsi coca cola decided to change its original recipe.....

people were starting to complain about cocacola not being coca cola anymore

they soon realized that they will destroy themselves by wanting to be better than their market opponent or in other words just by wanting to cope with the market and not losing its battle

the thing is, coca cola flavor was recognized as a very good one and has build a legend amongst its consumers... more of an image than real flavor .... but their base consumers liked it....

after realizing what they have done cocacola company reversed its changes soon after... which probably prevented its total fall

Riot is doing the same thing.... trying to fix mistakes they did... just ,after a very very long time after they screwed it up

if my member serves me correctly coke a cola never lost to pepsi. they were just losing market share. they still were #1

The funny truth is the new coke formula was far better than the old, and given a double blind taste test, even those who claimed to prefer the old version prefered the new by far.

The irony is that the new coke was better, everyone liked it more, but people were upset at change when uninformed.

The issue you seem to forget being, Coca Cola was a terrible product full of harmful substances, and if they hadn't changed then they would've fallen to irrelevancy.
