Nocturnes' Lore
So, seeing as the League lore-wise isn't a thing anymore, several champions sole lore/ existence has been written out entirely. In my opinion, one of the more interesting lore pieces was for Nocturne. No one knew where he came from, except maybe that he was implied to be a manifestation made real.
I've seen alot of posts regarding Nocturne as fitting in with a Shadow Isles feel, but I don't see that case. Nocturne is not undead, nor does he have any pleasures, apart from merciless killing and prefers to stalk his prey in a place that they couldn't be reached. In that sense, it would probably make sense to keep these two factors about him grounded. There's also the theory that Nocturne is what Zed becomes if he continues his path into the shadows, and to be honest that is quite the convincing theory.
I've thought about it, and Nocturne is probably akin to beings such as Kindred more than anything. He is practically a boogeyman, the thing that makes us stay up late at night, and perhaps wherever he came from, whether as a manifestation of people's fears or as an actual entity from a separate world/ realm will be very detrimental to figuring out new lore for him. I do hope he's revisited again someday, as his lore has extreme potential.
A point I've noticed is that Nocturne is practically unrelated to any other champion. A lot of champions share a common relation, such as Garen and Darius, or even Bard and Soraka. Up until the lore retcon, the only similarities he had in League was the fact that he was being held prisoner by the summoners, nothing else. Riot almost has a blank slate for this character to rework his lore.
I hope I'm not the only one who hopes to see this devastator of dreams become something even more terrifying.
on a final note, just remember: Embrace the Darkness!
