@Riot, What Can Players Against RetconTerra Do to Help Preserve Old Lore Concepts?

How can we help inform your decisions about retconning Runeterra, and more importantly, does our opinion matter?

As far as I can tell, more players are against the retcon than for it, yet it is going ahead anyways - keeping this in mind, what kind of influence do players actually even have on Riot's decisions anymore?

I know things were never a democracy, but still, Riot always used to try to make decisions that were best for the playerbase...but these lore deceisions...they just feel awful.

To add insult to injury, we have yet to see any kind of great story that justifies the removal of the older lore. There hasn't been a single great story added to Runeterra that couldn't have easily co-existed with the pre-existing lore.

I miss the Institute of War and the cool political intrigue stories that it brought, and I see no sign of Riot replacing it with anything similar...yet somehow Bard's deus ex machina lore is ok.

Riot's decisions really don't make much sense these days.

Is there even any point in posting this thread? It really doesn't feel like it anymore, as I'm sure it will go unanswered and ignored, if not by RIot as a whole, then surely by the elusive and nearly seemingly non-existent Riot narrative department.

Just to jump in, while its probably true that more people enjoy the old lore over the new, its almost assured that most people simply don't care about either. They just want to play the game, and thats as far as they will take it. For every 1 player that looks up the whole backstory, another 9 will just be like "Lux is from Demacia and can use light. K" How can we convince Riot to do anything, when we can't even convince other players to be interested? Prime example, Factions. Its essentially one of, if not the largest, lore community for LoL. And its still a tiny percentage of all the players.

You can't expect to go after Riot with a handful of people and hope to make something happen. Unless you actually have the force of the community behind you, nothing will change.

While not a great story I think it'd be impossible to bring RekSai to join the league without imprisoning her(which would ruin any chance of her being involved in any other story ever again)

Buut to remain on topic,I think it is important to emphasize which character aspects are important to keep. For Xerath they focused on his goal to become free too much,while many players felt that xeraths fascination for magic was more important to his character.

So if you feel a certain character is likely to be retconned(characters who aren't connected to the rest of the world are pretty likely targets) or changed,then tell them what you like about the character and how important it is to keep certain aspects of the character
