Ezreal Splash Art Tweaks

Hey I forgot to post this one. Oops.

Not as high quality as the Ahri/Janna ones - namely because I was unable to recreate the background behind him.

Original: http://i.imgur.com/tMGDLFN.jpg

My Tweaks: http://i.imgur.com/DOrb3Jp.png

What I did: Rotated his lower body a bit. This is mostly me being nit picky - it doesn't need it per sey. I just felt his torso was oddly angled and skewed. Too long. I also tried to go for more of a "sliding down a cliff" feel instead of the "falling from the sky" feel that it has. I removed his thumb because he is now "holding" his bow and you don't hold bows like that; Likely to lose your thumb. I always imagined it to be some sort of magical wrist held cross-bow. (So above his hand) if it was moved so that it was above the hand again (like the model and the other splashes) the thumb can return.

Its not perfect. But hey.

Edit: Nevermind, he's not holding it, it just looks like he is.

No offense to you but I actually prefer the original one. I think it's more dynamic and that is probably what the artist wanted to portray, a mid action shot. Your edit loses some of that. Yes your version probably makes it more realistic but I don't think that was ever the main intention of the this art.

How the fuck does someone manifest such art into existence? Where do I find this talent? This is stunning and I'm envious of your skills.

Thank you. That is the major complaint I had about his new splash.

Sorry to say it but you made it worse.

The way you rotated his body made it 10x better

I think you might be a midget if you think his torso was too long in the original. The original torso looks like it was close to two heads tall, while yours is only a little over one head tall. The overlapping belts mark his waist. I think you mistook his legs as being part of his waste.

The thumb thing doesn't matter at all, since Ezreal isn't using a bow. The closest comparison would be a wrist mounted weapon.

I also don't see any problem with the idea of Ezreal falling down half a second after this image "was taken", so I don't see any reason to change his pose.

All in all, while it was good practice for your Photoshop skills, I feel you didn't think as much about your changes as the original artist did, resulting in an edit that looks worse than the original. Hopefully you can use this post as constructive criticism.

It is still a mid action shot, I understand what you are saying about losing some dynamics. But honestly you could take my edit, rotate his entire body and get the same effect as the original while having a proportionate torso.

I just was afraid to try so because I was unable to recreate the background and the quality of this edit would thus drop a bit more.

His original pose matches the gravity evident in every other thing falling past him. He looks like he just came out of a 360 no scope and is diving backwards off a ledge, he is not sliding down something at all. You can also tell by the way his cloak/cape/thing is fluttering up behind him—if he were coming towards you, it would be fluttering behind him, not above him like he just dove off the edge backwards. Your new pose would look perfect except that it is denying the laws of physics.
