I just realized Amumu is unobjectively downtrodden compared to everyone in League. There's literally no upsides for him, that's probably why Xayah likes him; downtrodden in every way to the point where even she can't put blame on him.

Which is quite weird when you consider how she views yordles as a whole. I kinda already decided that he was one but maybe Amumu is actually human.

According to his lore redux, he's not a yordle anymore, but a long dead Shuriman prince.

the lore is bull! It constantly states that it does not know what Amumu is. Is he a dead prince cursed with a sickness, is he a Yordle or just a cruel king cursed by his people, we don't know and neither does Riot. Don't believe me look at his Bio at the official universe page, and don't even get me started with certain interactions champions have with him or his 4 fingers I hate that Riot won't just address what he is since right now no lore can really be told about it.

Sorta makes sense actually. If historians have no idea what something is, they can propose some ideas but they can't say with certainty (assuming they have professional integrity). It sounds like, for right now, Riot is going with a historian viewpoint type of approach for Amumu. They can clarify later, but they have no obligation to do so now.

Maybe but I can't deny as a reader of the Lore I find it more annoying than anything since it gives me nothing on him. Right now all I know from the lore is exactly the same as what I can get from his artwork: He is a sad mummy. That's it and for fans of the lore it's just annoying, plus it's like Riot is even teasing us with giving us not one but three different stories of what he can be. I can try to understand the historian viewpoint but till when will they give us something, he has been in the game for how long and can anyone tell me something else than he sad?

I do agree that I wish I knew about the sad little mummy, but we can't force Riot's hand unfortunately :\ I know the approach they went for, and I'm sure they'll expand eventually. But we'd need a different situation, in my opinion. That was his bio, after all so it makes sense that we get a historian approach for him. I'm really hoping they try to involve him somewhere in the story so we can get more knowledge on him. Although, now that I think about it, given what we currently know about the lore he may not get to be involved in most of anything given the nature of his curse...

I want to know more too, and their approach to his lore makes sense, and I too wish we could know more. But we can't do anything about it. I share your frustration, if that's only condolence.

In the old lore, they would play together. However, now that the IoW doesn't exist, they have probably never met in the lore.

Annie is still in the related champions section of his lore.

I don't really think they plan on retconning her because the Shurima lore update already happened, which would've been the prime time to do so.

Annie also doesn't really have any connections to other champs aside from Amumu.

When you're 9 and have grown up in an isolationist group exiled from Noxus and currently living in one of the most infrequently traveled and dangerous landscapes in the world, you don't meet too many people.

Of course, she's never been near Shurima and cannot possibly have met Amumu otherwise. Riot has already said that the champion relations (friend, foe, rival) have no meaning in the lore of the world - it's more of "if they met, they would be like this" with emphasis on the if. Similar to how in game champ interaction quotes don't actually mean the champs have met in the lore - "if they meet, they might say this"

Iirc Amumu traversed a good part of Valoran, but I could be wrong. It's possible that he's met her; the entire story isn't revealed yet.

If they had the intention of retconning it, they would have done so earlier. Soraka and Warwick's relation became nil when they created the universe tab.
