@Riot, Embrace LoL's History, Don't Erase It. The Old Lore Will Never Die. The Retcon Can't Work.

Players will never forget about the original Runeterra, or the League of Legends.

That lore is special to many of the older players whether they realize it or not.

That's why this retcon will eventually fail. Because players that loved the lore of Runeterra will never stop fighting for it.

Players will never forget the Runeterra that made them fall in love with this game: We will never forget The League of Legends... when it** actually existed** in the lore.

Heck, isn't it kinda stupid that the "League of Legends" doesn't even exist within the game: League of Legends? Let's bring the old lore back already. I seriously don't see any advantages to the new lore other than letting the narrative team be lazy and not have to worry about writing lore that is cannon to old lore.

The Institute of War and the Journal of Justice still live on in the memory of the fans, as the most interesting lore sources that LoL had ever had.

The retcon hasn't even come close to producing the kind of lore content that LoL season 1 and 2 had.

@Riot, scrap this retcon. Start producing good lore again, like you used to.

We'll try not to hold this huge mistake against you for too long ;)

edit: @Riot, look at the upvotes/downvotes...listen to your players!

As far as i'm concerned the retcon didn't happen.

Not in the "I'm denying this because I don't like it!" kinda way, but because they've yet failed to actually produce any material solidifying the great retcon.

Now for the first couple of months this can slide...

It's been half a year. All they've released is fully compatible with the old lore.

They haven't retconned anything, all they've done is rip stuff out and mess up a few champion bios (Xerath and a few others maybe aside).

They have yet to produce, put forth or even hint at anything which speaks of a Runeterra without the League and the Institute. They've said a lot about how they're totally gonna do something eventually, but the months keep passing without any actual retconning being done.

Which is why I still hold a small hope that they'll just let the entire thing wither and that the next thing we'll see is more of the old lore.

The original trailer with the summoners influencing the champs was what finally convinced me to join. I actually felt like i was part of the game and not just some random player that plays a pile of pixels. Now all that went straight down the god damn drain.

I'd be fine with the retcon if anything was done with it. But with the quantity and quality of the lore being what it is, it is unacceptable.

I prefer the retcon to the old lore, though. It's unfair to assume everyone agrees with you.

I'm pretty sure there is only a fraction of the community even familiar with original lore so they don't need you to forget, they can just get a new community supportive of the new lore direction.

Uh, I stopped caring? I play the game to have fun. But you obviously don't. I enjoy looking at champion back stories and motivations, and I'm fine with what I see. And, plot twist, I've been playing since 2010. (This account doesn't say that, but I shut down my previous one due to complications) and I STILL don't give a fuck about Riot's decision to reboot the lore. So, yeah. I stopped fighting, probably because I never began. So... stop grouping me with you fanatics.

The Institute of War should have been written out rather than retconned.

Retconning something is like admitting that what you made before can't be salvaged.

Bumping this thread because I like it. When a huge chunk of the community goes against what you do, you'd think a developer would say "Okay okay. You're right." But no, they just gave everyone the finger and started replacing well written lore with two or three lines of vague garbage.
