Is there any way to read the League of Legends stories anymore?
Is there any way to access them from the actual League site, or do I need to dig up old surrender@20 updates or reddit threads?

You could just google them. Most of the champion bio are on the site and you can always just use the league wiki.

League wiki is the easiest way. The wiki updated so it matches the most recent lore of any of the champions that got a lore update. I'll give you some basic links if you want to read them on League website right here:
