The darkin had their own civilization... they entered runeterra to stop the runeterrans from fucking their own homeworld. They lost because every human race have plot armour and had watch their own race slaughteree by the humans.
Right now Varus does have a sister that he is looking for
Aatrox and Rhaast are also brothers, and thats why they probably have the double aa in their name, that as confirmed by Riot, isn't a general characteristic of all Darkin's names
So yes, they probably had family in general, although they could be like Homestuck's Trolls and have never known their parents, so they don't really care that much.
