8.21 Halloween Skins/Popstar Skins

i'm sure everyone has seen the leaked skins (Janna, Kled, Ekko) and the new popstar Skins (Ahri, Evelynn, Akali, and Kai'Sa.) I like the new skins, but what about other champs. I know they don't release skins for underplayed champs (Kindred, not since 2016 ;-; Illaoi, who has maybe 2 skins released in 2015, other champions.) Who do you want to see with a new skin? Of course, being a kindred main, I'd love to see Kindred skins but she's so underplayed. Makes me sad!

The upcoming skins in 8.21 are really pretty and all, but I sure wish other champs would get recognize. Maybe it would help with their play-rates

They're on PBE. They're not "leaked" anymore. And the Halloween skins got officially revealed, K/DA is what got leaked.

Illaoi literally got Resistance earlier this year BECAUSE she needed a skin. Riot has done the same for a lot of champions over the course of the past year or so. Kindred needs a skin as well, but considering they have one already, they're behind the likes of Camille (who'll get a skin in the next couple patches), Ivern, and Ornn.

Also, Riot primarily makes skins for "popular" champions (those that are played more than others) considering that - if more people play this champion, you have a higher rate of people actually buying the skins that RIOT put their hard work in. This is not true for ALL cases, but most yes - they are a business. I'm not saying they're right for doing so, but it is understandable. But sometimes they'll make skins for less popular champs too :)

They actually ARE right in doing so. When you make skins for popular champions, you profit, which means you make more money than you put into it. When you make skins for less popular champions, you might break even, or even lose money if the skin doesn't sell.

What popular champion skins allow is a budget buffer. Let's say all skins cost $100 to make (this is an example, it's absurdly low considering the salaries and cost per hour all the people need to be paid to make a skin, etc, but bear with it). If you make a skin for Ahri, and she makes $200 in sales, you have a $100 profit. If you make a skin for Amumu, and it only makes $70 in sales, you've lost money with your Amumu skin, -$30 in fact. HOWEVER, let's combine them. To make the Ahri and Amumu skins costs $200. Together, Ahri and Amumu make $270 in sales. This means you profit $70, because the high sales from Ahri helped buffer the loss for Amumu. This is why popular skins are very important and NEED To be released.

So for everyone who's complaining every time Ahri or Jinx or Yasuo gets a skin, you need to hush and go sit in the corner (Not directed to you Zev, you made good points). Skins for champions like Amumu, Ivern, Aurelion Sol, and Kled wouldn't even be financially possible without sales from skins for Ahri, Jinx, or Yasuo. It's basic economic alchemy, so simply appreciate the skins that come out, and be thankful they can sell well to pave the path for those who don't have the popularity to sell well.

I couldn't have said it any better!
