Katarina - Champions - Universe of League of Legends

For a character that was Riot's and League of Legends poster girl for many years, she is very underdeveloped in the new lore so far. One would imagine that she would be one of the characters with more attetion dedicated to her. But it seems that their attetion has flung to others. At least in story department, I mean. I guess that with the VGU of we will have a major lore update for Noxus, and she will get more development as one of the noxians more reticent to his rule. But still, it feels weird that a character that always got so much attention of the fans and the developers has nothing to her in the lore department so far.

I always figured Kata was the poster child because her archetype is excessively straightforward. Easy to portray in a cinematic and then sell to an audience.

Also what can we say about Kata's character? Help me out here, has anything ever stood out about her beyond being a femme fatale with nothing to do.

Riven was not released early enough to be a poster child. Although lee sin almost feels like one and he was released only a bit before her. Idk. Ryze/Garen/Kat/Ashe have always been poster children to me.

It's literally in her lore she was a poster child of the Noxian idea. So for me, Riven is the the poster girl for Noxus within the setting itself.

Look, I already addressed that she's never had much of a standout Narrative or character arc (not a constructive or developed one anyway) and this entire thread indirectly points that out as well. I just found it very questionable why someone new felt the need to re-emphasize that without attempting to extend any further discussion onto that issue. Nor the fact that my original comment was an implied opportunity for Katarina fans or sympathizers to actually try and defend kata's character, of which no one has really done that yet but I still implore people do.

If you want to downvote me for being rude then feel free, but I'm blinded as to why people think my initial statement is objectively wrong too.

It was never an opinion though, it was just a question proposed to the community and anyone who thinks highly of katarina and her outdated narrative. Someone asks you "hey why do you think so highly of such and such?" do you scorn the person who asked or do you attempt to answer the question?

Before the new lore (you know, the one that put the League of Legends out of cannon), she was kinda the more developed character of the game. Well, not the most developed. She seemed to be the one with more seeds to development, but then nothing came out of it. Her strange relationship with Garen , her sense of duty for Noxus because of her failure, the dissapereance of her father, and I think most importantly, because of Swain VGU soon, her animosity to the new leader of Noxus. If you look at it from a storytelling point, her story seemed to be heading to the "Enemy Civil War" trope way. As the leader of the "lesser evil" part of Noxus, against an overambitious Swain supported by Darius . Hell, there was even a story of her and Talon going to Demacia under the wing of JarvanIV in order to reveal a conspiracy leaded by the Black Rose.

I've been wondering about Garen and Katarina for years. It seems that there is something between them but their sense of duty always gets in the way seemingly.

Yes please. I want better Kat lore development and please for the love of all that is holy, give her in game voice lines and interactions. She luterally has one line for taunt and joke and zero special interactions while new champions have a billion lines for warding alone. Kats in game model and kit are quite modern but literally everything else is outdated
