Kindred, as riot says, rapresent death and life in the world of runeterra. In Kindred's splash art, they killed a king. the king in the art may be just a ''symbol'' that means the ruined king, in the story.

Maybe, Kindred alongside the ruined king made the Shadow Isles the way they are now?

It's possible.

Though Kindred no longer represents life as we believed. They represent two aspects of death. Peaceful and violent.

They are not welcomed in the Shadow Isles....meaning Death is not welcomed there.
