An open message to Sharjo

Hi. first of all i'm not english as my motherlanguage so it's even harder to me to express my thought. i'll try to be quick and direct. What i want is giving an open message, an open advice to Sharjo. I see all the passion you put into stuff for games' Lore, plots etc. (and i mean every game you listen, not just LoL).

Here's the problem: you should restrain all that you throw into this game's lore, LoL's, that doesn't deserve it, that doesn't deserve the Obsessive work you do (maybe even getting a real job if you don't have one wouldn't be a bad idea, no offence).
What i'm about to say might being hated and debated but denying it wouldn't be honest: League of legends, currently, has NO Lore. i myself love this game and following its story (if it had one), but after all that happened starting by the ret-con years ago, LoL plot is still slowly, stuntedly, trying to fall in line as it was more or less. the whole 'story' is pointless, inconsistent, uninteresting atm. is it? (champions are now more loose than before, No deep, less creative contents such as animated videos, events etc., still many severe inconsistencies, No developments at all on the plot, and the list may go long far..)

So why conjecturing? why making up towers of theories over empty grounds?why wasting lot of time for a fairy tale that is neglected by the company itself? honestly, all that ''how LoL universe was born and its storyline'' long speech you wrote made me laugh a bit. how do you know all what you suppose is nearly right? since you're the teacher's darling here, did they secretly send you plot twists common humans aren't worthy for? or do they themselves ask you what to write, maybe, since they ran out of ideas?

Objectively i'm not an 'old' fan but i'm seeing Blizzard giving their videogames' stories the care and the role they deserve. I see Riot not doing it, even being the ''First played worldwide videogame''. Desolation is what i see, and even playing it became boring without a story to follow and something fresh to discover. oh, they even stopped Lore Events, so i'm pretty fcked up.

LoL is my favourite game, but i think not for long, at this point. after they gave the final blow ''no more lore events''. many could blindly downvote, i don't care for it, perhaps blindly seeing only the good part and not the bad one of this situation. but at least i expressed my genuine opinion.

Saluti - Greetings, Sharjo

I'm not Sharjo but I'd like to give my opinion.

Simply put, it's because it's fun to speculate. It's fun to guess, theorize, and discuss possible ideas of what's happening. Even when there is a perception that nothing is happening.

Comparing Blizzard and Riot isn't really fair. Blizzard games have more story because they are more PVE based games at heart. You need story in PVE, story makes the environment an environment.

But then we have Heroes of the Storm, a moba run by Blizzard that has little to no lore as far as I can tell. Its story is basically "don't take it too seriously"

And there in lies the problem with stories and MOBA's: it can't really be taken too seriously.

We can't really justify why Sion and J4 are on the same team, just like we can't justify why in Overwatch (not a Moba, but story wise has the same problems) why Reinhardt, Zenyatta, Tracer, or even Genji would push a payload that's an EMP bomb into an Omnic neighborhood after the death of a highly religious Omnic figure who spoke for unity.

It's fun to speculate on the background of the world.

League has plenty of Lore, its just not all connected like some games, at least not anymore.

To me at least, it feels like an actual world. Many different events and happenings everywhere but they mostly dont concern each other. Now sure we get things like Nasus and Renekton having to fight Brand way back before Shurima fell where we can presume after which made his way to the Freljord. We also have rippling effects like how the Ruination and the acts of Hecarim and Kalista affects Bilgewater now in form of the Black Mist during the Harrowing.

While we dont know EVERYTHING, a lot of the fun is theorizing and figuring out pieces of the puzzle.

Personally i love this game's lore. I understand some dont but not everyone will. Its a subjective thing.

You say they stopped doing lore events & I'm going to have to say that is incorrect. What they stopped doing or won't do as much is lore events that is the size of Bilgewater. Lore events still happens (the Targon & Shurima updates have prove this), it just won't be a massive company wide project.

Why are you telling someone to restrain themselves from doing what they love? Speculation is the funnest part of any story if it doesn't get childish and claiming it as canon (darn Undertale fandom).

It is ''like saying stop your hobby, it is useless.''

And no, LoL has lore, believe or not. It is not like he is creating these threads from his ass.
