I know that Nurse Akali was part of the lore, if i remember right, it said that she volunteered to help vaccinate people or something..

As for most skins, i don't think that they play ANY part in the lore at all, but a few does, especially old ones.

I believe the ongoing theory for Justicar skins is that they follow a different timeline than the current one where Syndra and Atrox are not aligned with darker forces.

Arc'Light: I have theories for the other two outside of Varus's. Vaynes could be a prediction of her possible ascension (as it seems just about anyone can ascend so long as they get the favor of the gods/are really good at what they do; Janna's old(did they change hers yet?) lore comes to mind). Whereas Vel'Koz would be more of another alternative line type thing or even an evolution/change of his current form.

Other than that most of the skins are about alternate timelines like Creator Viktor as he wages war against Runetera, thus creating the Pulsefire or Fullmetal line. I'm not really sure which of the two it was.

There's a small number of skins that actually appear within the main story that encompasses League of Legends, while the majority are AU; re imaginings of champions existing in a different universe. Let's see if I can list ALL of the canon skins:

  • Justicar Aatrox: In truth, Aatrox never actually looked like this, but cultures, particularly Demacia, have viewed him like this as a historical interpretation. So it's a version of Aatrox as documented by history but Aatrox never actually looked like that.
  • Bloodmoon Akali: Akali wore this during the Festival of Fire where she and Shen re-enacted the story of Reina. Akali played the part of Reina.
  • Queen Ashe: Depicts Ashe in her wedding dress when she got married to Tryndamere. Not sure if the outfits are still a thing anymore but the marriage did still happen to the best of my knowledge.
  • Nurse Akali: In the old days of the JoJ, Akali wore this when she was treating people for an illness at the IoW. The IoW doesn't exist anymore though so this skin is no longer canon.
  • Captain Gangplank: That's what Gangplank looked like during and before Burning Tides, right up until the climax of act 3, where he got blown to bits.
  • Cutthroat Graves: This depicts Graves in his youth, long before he and TF really made a name for themselves, during their initial partnership.
  • Bloodmoon Kalista: If memory serves this skin exists as an Ionian interpretation of the legends surrounding Kalista. The way she's depicted here would be the way she'd be depicted at the Festival of Fire.
  • Captain MissFortune: This is what Miss Fortune wore when she headed the Syren to blast Gangplank to smithereens in Burning Tides. She probably still has the outfit.
  • Sinful Succulence Morgana: Was a thing when she had a bakery. This is likely no longer a thing. Was once a thing, but now an AU thing I'd imagine.
  • Bloodmoon Shen: Same deal as Akali, but this time Shen's depicting the spirit chasing Reina.
  • King Tryndamere: Same deal as Queen Ashe.
  • Cutpurse TwistedFate: Same deal as Cutthroat Graves, back in their Bilgewater days.

I think that's everything. If I forgot something someone else add it as a comment or something so I can reflect on my failure to list all the canon skins. And to restate: These skins are ones that occured in the main universe of League of Legends, where all of the characters at their base level exist. Alternate skins are mostly stuck in alternate universes and stuff.

Well the arclight lore is that arclight Vel'koz is some sort of deity, that grants light powers to the mortals. However only the worthy are able to wield these powers, the others die(this is why we can see some sort of cult in front of arclight vel'koz)

In the end though this skin line doesn't have any real connection to the lore, except for arclight varus showing us how he looked before the corruption.
