My vision on the Irelia rework

I expect her to be more of a commander type character that can 1v1 you at any moment, who looks mysterious and an awesome character. I also like her to give off that "I don't give a fuck" vibe, look or expression, like all kuudere's in some animes. I'm also not against if riot change her outfit and make her dress color an ionian color ( or a cyan color). but riot should retain her Asian look and her untied black hair because those are her key elements on her appearance. I also like her weapon to be more flex and be more of a telekenic-ly weapon and not just some floating weapons. I'm also in favor of her weapon being a darkin and was defeated by her or her father ( or even her brother ) making the darkin loose its power. I also like irelia's power fantasy as a telekinetic blade wielder because its unique and an original VG character to other games. I also like her brother to return in the lore because that is one of her key elements. Overall, i hope irelia will turn out great in her VGU day.

Look! one concept design that i like, just found it randomly in the net yesterday. Kudos to the artist though. This design greatly screams irelia to me and looks like her initial VGU should look like for me. except the floating swords and imagine them as a darkin weapon/ another weapon.

One of the big goals Rioters have already discussed is really playing up the fantasy of a telekinetic blades-woman, so rest assured that they'll surely give you something cool. As for her design, I feel like it might change slightly in thematic, but will still look relatively similar to her current version. (Think Taric level model change, big, but still recognizable.

Also, I feel like the teaser image might be some sort of badge? She seems to be talked about as some sort of warrior leader, and it might be part of her new Crest. (Mantel of Decorum)

I doubt "IDGAF" would be a huge part of her character.She is supposed to be one of the leaders (?) of Ionia ,who fought Swain. It's gotta be a suptle vibe with more emphasis on"I will protect Ionia and it's people at all costs" . A ruthless with a cause,not to be cool - kinda thing.

But what do I know.I dont even play her.

No, retain her lichdom and her blades being her phylactery for her soul. Don't tack on darkin to every reworked character, please.

I think that concept design you "found randomly on the internet" was what Riot released as her champion concept teaser before she was fully developed and released.

Anywho, I'd have to disagree on her being a commander, I feel the whole "the leader is the most powerful person in a place" is a tired and worn trope in fantasy settings. The reality is that leaders employ powerful people as guards. Especially since Irelia's theme is going to double down on telekinetic blade fighter, I really see her as a kind of kingsguard, the last line of defense for a very important political figure. The last line of defense idea is still a farcry to her original lore, where she came out of a last man standing kind of situation.

I don't see her as a leader. I don't even see her as a military commander or section leader. I see her as a noble courtier Ionian "knight": an elegant woman in the ballroom, but gonna kill you dead if you try to get to her vassal.

There's a lot to work with when it comes to Irelia, Sadly when you think of Irelia and a rework, most people just want this.

I don't know about anyone else's thoughts on this but I'm thinking something along the lines of Penny from RWBY, minus the strings attached to her blades.

Maybe a skill that causes her blades to rotate around her for 4s, similar to AurelionSol 's passive.

Personal thought here, but the telepathy with her blades, she should have the longest attack range of any melee combat champion. Thinking something like a nerfed Kayle 'e' (sorry if that's the wrong key) but single target and not quite as far.

Irelia is one of my top 5 fav champions , next to Sejuani , Sona and some others, so i have a lot of hopes on this.

im planning to make a topic like this after next champion release as we get closer to Irelia release, to see what the general ideas and expectations are.

i myself personaly expect her to keep some of her core features like, using her telepathic blades,and her Asian theme she has to her outfits and her style (this is actually very important to me as i love her current style). unlike Swain that most of it were gone, dont get me wrong not hating Swain rework but i think atleast some of the features of the character should stay similar at best.

from what i suspect Irelia is going to shine more now,she is gonna be more important than before,she is the woman who almost killed the bad leader of the country who slaughtered our people and still want to invade us. thats gotta count for something!

i think she is gonna become an iconic woman and this does not mean being a military leader or something. what i wonder is how this entire thing is going to play out for her connections with other champions, Irelia is an old champion , her story is old and its been YEARS since she had any lore updates or even slightest mentions in any kind of Lore , canon or alternative universes or otherwise. we rarely know who she is , how she is connected to other important people of Ionia, how is she perceived by them.

there is a lot of questions and wonders.

as for gameplay aspects , i think keeping the core of her kit the sustain of her passive. her reach and mobility , is going to be tricky , and i suspect her ultimate is just gonna go! balancing her was always a terrible nightmare for Riot , lots of buffs and nerfs , she got nerfed so much no one even looked at her anymore. its time for that to change.

Riot said, a long while ago, that they wanted her to feel like she was actually using those telepathic blades and not just with her Ult. They might even go full power and make her blades always moving around her giving her an AoE damage centered on her and then make one of her skill making them move in different patterns.
