Is Leona Down With Genocide Now Or What?

Her older lore had her showing mercy every now and then, like with that horned dude on the mountain and her eventual realization that the Sun and Moon should coexist. But now Horn Boy's been axed and she's all about "preserving Solari dominance." Meanwhile Aphelios' bio confirms that the Solari are out genociding the Lunari.

Leona, as the Aspect of the Sun, presumably has some sway over the Solari. Is she okay with brutally murdering all the oppressed moon-worshipers now? Yeah, her bio says she's out to save Diana from the power of the moon, but what about all those fresh Lunari corpses? Hopefully I'm dead wrong and she hasn't gone full babykiller, but her and Aphelios' bios kind of make it look like that.

Riot's lore and narrative suffers from a lack of overarching vision to build their world around. Since they're lacking that, the lore is constantly changing at the whims of whoever is writing it, and characterization is all over the place. They also have displayed in the past that they don't care about characterization (proof being they were 100% ready to gut Nautilus' lore and give it to Pyke if not for backlash), and what characterization they do care about they often pollute with grim-dark-gritty backgrounds.

At this point, I don't see much reason to invest in a narrative that is highly unstable and not really held with any kind of respect by the lore team themselves.

Honestly, who knows at this point. Everything can go everywhere.

We view the Lunari as oppressed moon worshipers, but Leona likely views them almost like terrorists. Leona may not know the full story even as the Solari hierarchy knows it, and may just know that the Lunari are responsible for many death among the Solari. After all you're not going to let you're young acolytes know that you're beating down doors to kill people, and then being retaliated against. It's not like the Lunari do much to help that image anyways especially with Aphelios's "kill everyone I see while on the job" brutality.

When they showed Leona showing mercy to some barbarians in Pantheon new bio as he wanted to end them, it seemed they were going back at the right direction with her. Now... I'm not so sure.

I mean, is still better than her previous bio change, when she was a fanatic that wanted to end the life of Diana for her heretic words. But still.

Good, the lunari traitors deserve it! PRAISE THE SUN!

She's not committing genocide, she's burning down filthy moon-worshippers heretical savages. It's completely fine and justified. Stop being overdramatic. Praise the Sun ! Leona

Considering the pantheon (heh) of Aspects that reside on Targon, Leona probably has very little actual power over the Solari as an organization. A bulwark of their faith? Sure. But her position is probably mainly that of a figurehead. She might be able to denounce some of their practices with few repercussions, but I doubt she would be able to actively change the way they function when she's such a (relatively) new addition to their ranks.

It is better that a 100 innocent be punished than a single guilty man go free.

I wonder how many Rioters embrace the grimdank? I feel some things like Zaun are clearly inspired by Necromunda and the like.

Well, I miss the previous background of Leona. They could mix it with actual version, at least add some things to the old one, but this is my opinion. I guess that I'm not only one. [zombie-nunu-bummed]

I wouldn't be so sure either way. Kayle is full on murdering all of life it seems. Leona could follow a similar path it seems.
