Loving the new Xin Zhao lore

Xin Zhao - Champions - Universe of League of Legends

Back when Sylas was released, there were a lot of complaints (several from me, I'll admit) that the effort to show Demacia wasn't perfect made them look more like full-on bad guys with few positive qualities.

Xin Zhao's new bio and color story emphasize the positive traits of Demacia really well, making them a good balance with the mage-related stories that show the kingdom's downsides. They show how some Demacians are still too xenophobic for their own good, but most are willing to accept Xin Zhao once he's proven himself.

I just wanted to thank the lore team for coming out with these bios and stories that show both Demacia's flaws and its virtues.

Thank you for reading! It was a pleasure writing these, and I had a lot of guidance/support from the rest of narrative.

I am really grateful to the writer for this story. Xin Zhao´s story has changed significantly, but "Xin Zhao" has not changed at all. And his character got deeper, And his old story is also respected. In addition, the story of this time describes positive aspects of Demacia, but also describes the negative aspects of this country. (A soldier who deliberately mistakenly calls the foreigner's name. etc) One great king could change one man's life. However, I saw that it was difficult for even the king to change one country in the present Demacia. I am looking forward to how it will lead to future stories! [slayer-pantheon-thumbs]

That Zhao Yun looking dude is acting a whole lot like Ma Chao.

And I love it. JUSTICE!

Oh hey! I was literally preparing a post on how Xin Zhao's story could be used to pull some of the positive literary themes out of the Demacian narrative yesterday! I was going a very different direction, but I'm glad someone else saw the same potential in Xin's character.

TY to the writers for seeing the controversy in Demacia and working on it. I totally get that the angst surrounding Demacian lore is really difficult to handle, so I'm glad to see you take the challenge.

Cheers, DQD

It also show the downsides to Noxus too, when your position is only determined by you being strong enough to get there, what stops that person from just going out and imposing their will on the "weak" like those fishermen?

Xin’s interactions with his guards were fantastic, I love his composure in the face of death. SkiptoMyLuo has done Xin’s character justice, fantastic story.

Also, Alistar lore teaser! Minotaurs exist, I’m so excited.

Not gonna lie, getting Xin Zhao from Ionia to Noxus finally to Demacia seems like such an ordeal for any writer who has to tell his story. From a story telling perspective it seems structurally messy, because there's very little focus on one setting before that focus has to reset/reevaluate to another location ×3. It's kinda like when a movie has multiple beginnings.

But all things considered its literally the only way you could try to build his story.

Finally! I've been waiting for this, now just Sona to go (and Lucian, partly).

I'm also glad it was finally confirmed as Jarvan III who rescued him instead of Jarvan II, because Xin would have had a very disproportionate age to his appearance if that were still true. Luckily, everything seems to now fall into place!

Now all that's left is to wonder what will happen when he encounters his homeland again...given Irelia's quote to him, I have a feeling that will happen sometime.
