What A Surprise. Rioters These Days Mostly Focus On Threads That Are Pro-Retcon.

It would be nice to see more Rioters provide constructive criticism, or at the very least decent information to posters who are critical of the Retcon.

To this date, I've yet to see any Rioter who seems remotely sympathetic or understanding of how awful the lore retcon felt.

Heck, we still haven't even received a satisfactory reason for the retcon. Riot's main post introducing the retcon was highly downvoted and disliked, and lacked any kind of justification whatsoever.

If you look at the board-page you'll notice that there aren't many threads complaining about the retcon(except for your new ones of course).

Also he did reply to one thread complaining about the taric changes: http://boards.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/story-art/mT8EJYUF-my-problems-with-new-taric

And honestly your complain threads are simply badly written...

Heck, we still haven't even received a satisfactory reason for the retcon.

What, finding the Institute of War to be too confining of an limitation wasn't enough for you? Why on earth would champs like Bard,Kindred,Yasuo, Azir, and Aatrox be in the league?

You could argue that they could of held Kindred hostage, but if they could keep the essence of DEATH captive, then why haven't they used them to kill off the shadow isles, who pose a serious threat to the entire planet's existence?

Why would Yasuo, a fugitive from his country, appear on a TELEVISED death match? Even if he went to the Institute to find the killer of his elder, it would only take a week tops to find all of the wind technique users in the League(Riven &Janna) and interrogate them. And then he would leave, either exonerated or off to continue his search.

Why would Azir, who has a kingdom to build from scratch and to rule, fight in an arena? Money? For what? He can create entire cities out of nothing and have all the manual labor done by servants made out of sand(not to mention all of the rich nomads that he is planning on hosting). Prestage? He is a king, an emperor, a god who has dominion over the very earth he walks on! All other "kingdoms" are but shifting sand.

What about Aatrox? Why would he fight in the League? His lore states that he only shows up in a fight when a side is about to be overwhelmed, and then he inspires them to win. So why would he be in a fight from the beginning? That's not his style.

And Bard? He has places to be, things to do, and an entire planet/plane of existence to protect. Why on earth would he fight in small scale battles with little importance to the rest of the universe?

Let's see, have League have a Super smash bros type game/lore interaction, but with awesome champions with superbe lore, or have the game make sense in the lore, but have comparatively worse champion lore wise. I fail to see why you would want the second one, seeing as it would be focused on why they are in the league, rather than who they are. I mean look at Taric's old lore, then compare it to his new one. The old lore had two paragraphs, one talking about him, the other talking about how/why he came to be in the league. The new lore has several pages on who he is, how he fits into runeterra, and what he does there. Why would you want the two paragraph version?! It was worse in almost every way!(personally I think it was worse in every way, but that is my opinion)

So yes, they did give a good reason for the retcon, whether you are satisfied with it is of no consequence. And it is not Riot's job to make you satisfied or appease you(actually they did try to appease us, what with the massively improved lore and champion origins. If only some people would of enjoyed it instead of complaining about it)

They're FAR too busy to listen to critics, man. They've got a lot to do. Put out new champs. Write new lore. Rework Cassiopeia and Skarner for the fifth time. E-Sports. Hijack chinese art. Read Diana/Leona fanfic. Kill Pantheon. Smell their own farts. It's a BUSY day at Riot games EVERY day man. They can't be bothered talking to their fans and explaining themselves. Heck, they're trying pretty hard to get new fans and kinda pushing away the old ones. How many league players have left or want to leave? A lot. Their response? "Make grouping the only way to do well... then those schmucks will need to drag their friends in!".

It's a majestic dance, really. Like a ballerina performing at the height of her skill... gracefully flipping us the bird each time she twirls past.

Their reasons were laid down on the Exploring Runeterra blog post and discussed heavily on the weeks following it.

I think is perfectly acceptable to dislike and be critical of the retcon, but saying "The reasons you present are not enough because of such and such" is very different to just going "I don't accept your reasoning, produce one I actually like".

Riot stated their reasoning for the rework and have sticked to it, taking responsibility for it and coming with pretty satisfying results on their new content. Personally, I would find pretty dishonest if they tried to spun new justifications for the retcon so far into it, as it would be a transparent attempt to appease their detractors with words, rather than with actual results.

Meh why don't you simply leave then... I suggest you join the rest of the new lore haters.

The retcon happened because having to tie in all champions to the Institute of War made all stories very limited and boring to read since they all had the same outcome.

That is a good reason. It's up to you whether to accept it or not, but that doesn't mean it's a bad reason in general.

It also seems like Riot is using their employees to downvote threads like this to hide it lol
