Was Nocturne the entity in "FOR DEMACIA - Where Nightmares Dwell" The Short Story!? :0

For the Short story "For Demacia - Where **NIGHTMARES ** Dwell" recently released... I would REALLY like confirmation if the entity causing the nightmares _was _Nocturne Nocturne . Considering the entire story is about a town terrorized by nightmares, up until act 11, i was certain they were dealing with Nocturne ...~~ but then i momentarily doubted~~ Its him. Read some of these quotes and tell me if you dont think of Nocturne while doing it.

  1. "She felt shadows where no shadows ought to dwell, hidden darkness where only light should exist"
  2. "Lux awoke with a scream, her heart hammering in her chest and her breath coming in wheezing spikes. Terror filled her mind; a nightmare of clawed hooks..."
  3. "She tried to recall specific moments from the nightmare, but all that came was the reek of sour breath and a faceless darkness pressing down upon her..."
  4. "“You don’t understand! They were monsters! I saw them, their real faces! _Darkness _. Only Darkness!”"
  5. "Dyan’s last words were all but lost in the roars of approval coming from the crowd, but Lux finally pieced them together as Garen’s sword swept down. THE LIGHT IS FADING..." (a direct Quote from Nocturne's VO)
  6. "The head rolled to Giselle’s feet as coiling smoke poured from Aldo Dyan’s corpse like black bile oozing from a charnel pit. The magistrate recoiled in shock as a phantom form of wicked claws and searing eyes erupted from the dead man’s skull. The spectral darkness launched itself at the magistrate with a cackle of spite."
  7. "Lux dropped to one knee as myriad visions of horror arose within her" (UNSPEAKABLE HORROR MUCH?)
  8. "The shadow creatures closed on the platform, sliding through the air without a sound. An oncoming tide of nightmarish horrors."
  9. "“What are they?” asked Varya. “The darkest nightmares of Fossbarrow’s people given form,” said Lux."
  10. "“I can’t. I’m too scared. **The nightmare-man ** is out there.”"

If this isnt Nocturne, ima throw a fucking fit. If it is, then this is utterly amazing. It implies Nocturne is an Ancient demon perhaps, buried in Fossbarrow, thought dead, but actually alive and healing for an unknown period of time. Please can we get a Rioter to just simply say "Yes it was him"?

Off the top of my head, so sloppy pitch warning: Nocturne torments Lux with nightmares of her power becoming unleashed. Some nights it causes the devastation of all Demacia. Other nights, her nightmares focus on all Demacia turning on her, imprisoning her, and putting her to death. At her public execution, jeers all around, her brother, Garen, swings the fatal blow, a look of disappointment in her etched on his face. Each night it gets worse. In her sleep-deprived days, Lux starts to withdraw from everyone, even her brother. And I'll stop there because I'm now pondering writing an actual outline for this. Cheers!

He is! Riot Jaredan mentioned in his ask.fm that he would like to write a story where Nocturne gives Lux nightmares.

As a Nocturne main, it gives me great joy to know that it's nocturne who's giving that optimistic light-brandishing Lux conniptions.

I hope so, would love more context to nocturne since his lore seems very outdated with how the summoners and the nexus work.

I honestly had forgotten about Nocturne for most of reading the story, until the point where the man was executed, and stated his final words. "The light is fading..." That line bothered me and caused me to stop reading, because it sounded so familiar. Because it is literally one of Nocturne's VO lines.

From that moment on the entire circumstance around the town makes sense to be Nocturne. And I was thrilled that one of the less fleshed out characters in League seemed to be getting some love. As an aside, I wonder what Nocturne would be capable of if he left Demacia and their magic dampening zome of Petricite, as I assume the foundation of his power is magical.

I've been so busy lately, I haven't had the time to really nestle down and read all the lore stories that just dropped, but holy shit does this get me hyped! Great job digging into this, and the evidence is clearly in your favor. Haha.

I completely agree, its got to be Nocturn. I am pretty sure I read somewhere in the story the scraping of metal on metal or something that was related to Nocturn's weapons.

But if u watch one of the earlier cinematic that portrayed a fight between Nocturn and Ryze (well what do you know another connection btwn Nocturn and a magic user: does Nocturn especially like the nightmares of mages or something?) u see Nocturn afflicting Ryze with waking nightmares which is similar to what was happening to the Dauntless Vangaurd and Lux in this story.

If so, he's need some serious lore changes. He seemed completely unrelated to mages before, but if they rewrite him as some kind of spectral mage he'd fit perfectly.

How did I not Think of him when I first read it. Everyone Always talks about that they do not know where to put him. Shadow Ilse, Zaun, Noxus or whatever. But Demacia is much better. If it is him he is so cool and terrafying in the lore!

How did I not Think of that??!! I feel kinda stupid. If it is'nt him we all know there is someone in the lore that is doing his job better than he can ever do. Thank you for telling this!

edit :P I looked on the universe and Nocturne is not conected to anyone but Shaco and Fiddlesticks. I Think it still is Nocturne in the story but Riot do not want do tell us yet. They will probably wait until they update his lore, bio and story. Cant wait to find out though.

Yeah, I don't know how I missed that.

I think it's because it didn't sound like him in the original story about how the grandad killed him? But, it would be easy to retcon his lore and make some sense of that.
