One of those people who believes what they think is what everyone else thinks.

Knight Auditor9 votes

I think what matters is what most people think. You want to find out what that is then start a poll. Pretty obvious how the visual redesign has been trending so far.

Rune Ocarina7 votes

Hell, just the topics alone should inform you enough how much people don't like this ugly faced Fiora.

Kuroi864 votes

A thousand users on the NA boards vs millions of users in the entire game...

Knight Auditor7 votes

I'm sure that everyone else is just overwhelmed with joy, you're right.

I'm being sarcastic, by the way.

You should look into the science of exit polls. It's really quite interesting, but the gist of it is that exit polling data is extremely representative of what the final result of any vote, usually within a +/-1% margin of error. Essentially, even a small sample size can give an adequate cross section of an entire state/country/etc., disregarding situations where extreme biases might be at play.

Anyways, I don't think this board is more naturally inclined to defend our current Fiora than the rest of the League-playing community, only more inclined to be vocal about it (as we're all here in the first place).

So there?

Kuroi863 votes

So... the majority of players are whiny entitled children who complain any time something changes. Gotcha.

Knight Auditor3 votes

Any time they feel something changes for the worse, sure. I'm sure you've never complained about anything in your life, right?

Kuroi861 votes

Not when it's free.

Skins are not for free and they look worse.

Yep, I feel entitled to things that I paid for.

I paid for the Royal Guard skin, which looks awful now.

Shloonz3 votes

Same here, i paid for the normal skin, new one looks ugly. Same with Gangplank...

You have no way of actually telling whether or not your last statement is accurate. As someone who has at least some knowledge of stats I am disappointed by your choice to try to argue that the majority of people dislike the new VU and the only stat you actually give isn't even a accurate one.

Just to clarify. For a small group to give a accurate representation of the total population you have to have a random survey (or exit poll). Boards is anything but random and since it isn't random it doesn't provide useful data in regards to how many people support or don't support certain things.

That's such a presumptuous statement I can't really begin to understand it

Even a cursory search of every major place on the internet that discusses league overwhelmingly hates this new look. As a matter of fact, the only people I've found who legitimately love it are people who hate her character and are happy to see her made ugly. It's bad. It's undeniably bad. The only reason you would think you're in the majority here from what I can tell is because you know in your heart that Riot tends to stonewall criticism.

Kuroi861 votes

I honestly don't care one way or another.
I just get tired of these boards turning into nothing but entitled people whining for days on end any time Riot makes a change. You'd think after all this time people would understand that complaining on here does no good.

Burn Hazard1 votes

then why even come here

why even create a space that is supposed to be a place for Riot to interact with its customers if they're going to ignore them?

Kuroi861 votes

It wasn't created to be ignored, it was created for constructive criticism. Less than 5% of the criticism on these boards is constructive...

Burn Hazard3 votes

sometimes you create something so bad that it just can't be salvaged

they keep trying to polish this turd, but the reality is that they're trying to improve on something that didn't need to be improved upon. If they were truly interested in listening to our feedback they'd scrap the whole thing and start over.

Kuroi861 votes

but the reality is that they're trying to improve on something that didn't need to be improved upon.

And here we stumble upon the first major issue of the boards. This statement right here is 100% opinion. You see the situation in a very specific way, one that you cannot deny is biased. Meanwhile you criticize something without knowing the whole story.

If they were truly interested in listening to our feedback they'd scrap the whole thing and start over.

Now why would they do that? That's not listening to feedback, they already listen, they just don't heed the naysayers. The last time they did that... well... LeeSin

This isn't about them listening to anyone, or trying to please anyone. This is Riot doing what it thinks is best in order to improve it's game. Whether anyone agrees with it or not, they will do what they think is best. And until a forum poster can come out and claim to have more years of experience in not only coding games, but in crafting and balancing characters for use in a pvp style game. Then I see no reason for them to listen to the posters on here for advice on balancing and improving their own game. I mean they are the game makers, they've been at this for quite a while, they aren't perfect, but they have the experience that we should have some faith in them.

Using something like boards is a very very bad way of gauging public opinion. To actually develop any kind of usable data you would have to set up a good survey not just take board posts.

The problem with using this website as a representation of people who play this game is that it usually only represents people who are unhappy with something or another. So even if the majority of people hate the new fiora look boards will have a higher percentage then the actually population. It is completely possible that the majority of people hate her new look but using this medium as fact is just silly and not even close to accurate (or if it is we have no way of knowing). Literally the only thing you can say is that a portion of the people who visit boards disapprove of the fiora VU. Their are many good ways to argue why Fiora looks bad right now but using boards is not one of them.

Knight Auditor2 votes

As you will, but the only argument Riot considers is the weight of popular opinion, and the boards are my only real source for that. I use the cudgel I have on hand.

Sammystorm2 votes

Boards isn't even a real source for the data you are looking for. The people that are posting threads are people that don't like the VU and the people posting in those threads are generally people who agree with the original poster. So it makes a very large bias. By all means complain about the Fiora VU. You are entitled to your opinion. However what you are doing is using data for something that it doesn't even represent. Their is usable data on boards but not any thing that can help you understand league population opinion or even boards opinion. So what yo are doing is using a knife as a cudgel or in other words using data incorrectly.

Knight Auditor1 votes

Well all right then.

R1102 votes

Because the boards is such a huge representation of the playerbase, kappa. Even the league reddit is a small representation of the playerbase but it is a lot bigger than the boards. I've also never seen so many pleased people on the league reddit following a rework.

Personally I think the new look is a lot more unique ompared to the old one. Take her sword for example, old sword was a normal sword, new sword is a prestigious Demacian sword. You can now also tell that she is a character from Demacia now. I like the new look.

NorthernDruid5 votes

It's the shoulderpads which really does it. They're just so hillariously bulky.

Solideus3 votes

I really like the new Fiora though.

GreenLore2 votes

Sorry, but they won't throw out all the new models that they've done so far for the old stuff.

However it is never too late for minor alterations to the models/splash arts

IcyPepper2 votes

They could always keep the old splash and design as an alternate skin, I suppose?

GreenLore1 votes

Yeah,I think in her case it would be actually justified,I mean the design did change rather drastically this time around.

I know they didn't do it with Sion, but lets be honest here, old sion wasn't that good looking and the other champs who received a VU still resemble their old versions rather closely,so that a traditional skin wouldn't change their appearance that much. Fiora on the other hand wears completely different armor and has a different color scheme than before,so I guess it would be ok to give her a traditional skin, since her old design is good enough to be a skin on its own.

I have a better idea.

no.
