Can't the League of Legends still exist in Lore?

Why would League of Legends still be called "League of Legends" if that name doesn't exist in its lore anymore. That would be stupid.

Riot Please, Keep the "League of Legends" in the game League of Legends.

From the League of Legends, to the "Random Group of Assorted Creatures that happen to be called Legends".
